R0adki11 has released his ArmAII mod Nogovan Armed Forces Project version 1.2. ArmAII: CO required.
After releasing most of my addons individually, i have decided to group the released content together. As know i have enough to reflect all branches of the Nogovan Armed Forces.
This is the release topic for my Nogovan Armed Forces Project, this a continuation of my Nogovan Armed Forces Project from OFP. The aim of this Project is to create an Armed Forces that is representative of the Nogova Repuplic in a Modern World.
*The Nogovan Republic Consists of Nogova, Everon and Malden.
Brief History
"Following the wars that ravaged the islands in the 1980′s, it was decided that the old militia system of weekend warriors with a minimum of training was insufficient to ensure the defence of the Nogovan Republic. Permanent armed forces based on universal conscription were therefore established, built around a core of former FIA guerilla’s and returned expatriate officers.
The modest resources of the islands of Nogova, Everon and Malden preclude massive investment into modern armaments, leading to an emphasis on acquiring smart soldiers rather than smart weaponry. Rigorous and extensive training programs have been developed to ensure that raw recruits are brought to a high professional standard with a variety of military skills. In joint exercises with Western militaries Nogovan draftees have outperformed the foreign regular counterparts on multiple occasions.
All soldiers must pass an extended basic training for a period of six months before entering advanced military training. Part of the soldiers are then enrolled in the combat arms, part in the supporting services. Due to the relatively long ininital training all forces have a firm background in basic infantry skills regardless of their subsequent specialisation.
The main part of recruits enter the light infantry which provides soldiers with training for operations in both alpine and desert conditions. Nogovan light infantry doctrine places a high value on dispersed and independent operations by platoon sized units against numerically superior or more heavily armed forces, mimicking the resistance tactics developed in the wars against the Soviets. Part of the troops are assigned to the armoured corps, which specialises in combined operations with tanks and armoured personnel carriers.
The Nogovan Light Horse endorses fast aggressive tactics to quickly disrupt airborne or amphibuous invasions before initial assault forces are able to establish a firm bridgehead. Its reliance on brute force contrasts with the more fluid tactics of the rest of the army.
After basic military training and the light infantry course the best and brightest of the recruits can volunteer for service with the airborne company, undergoing extensive advanced training imparting airborne and amphibuous infiltration techniques, demolitions skills and use of foreign weaponry and equipment. Endurance and initiative are highly stimulated in airborne candidates, a high number of which eventually enter non commissioned – and subaltern officer training courses at the Viktor Troska Military Institute."
Optional Extras to the Nogovan Armed Forces Project
Nogovan JAS39 - this has additional requirements which is why i left it as an optional download.
Joris-Jan van 't Land has announced in an "Full Steam Ahead" entry on the BI Developer Blog that Arma 3 will be Steam-exclusive
What's the deal
As we stand on the verge of revealing our plans for Arma 3, there is one big topic we'd like to get out there first. A long four months ago, I took over as Project Lead for Arma 3, having previously worked on the game as Lead Playable Content. As a team we were facing two quite serious situations: we were not happy with how the project was going, and on top of that two of our colleagues were suddenly arrested for alleged espionage in Greece. The first two months on the job were all about taking an inventory of the project and team, seeing what was going well, what was not, and coming up with plans to fix it all. The mission set by our CEO, Marek Å paněl, was clear: do all we can to release Arma 3 in 2013.
One of the steps in this plan has been to select Valve's Steam as our primary platform. Not only is Arma 3 PC-exclusive, but now we have decided to make it Steam-exclusive as well. Since we expect this will upset some of our fans, I'd like to take the time to honestly explain our motivations.
The bottom-line: we feel that without going Steam-exclusive, we would not be able to release Arma 3 in 2013. Benefits for development
Proven distribution platform
Steam is the leading digital distribution platform for PC games. We have sold our games through Steam for a while now, and Valve has been a good partner. There may be other platforms that handle certain things in a way we or you would prefer, but they simply do not have the reach, support and status Steam does. Recent upgrades to Steamworks have made it an even more interesting option for us as developer and publisher. These include Delta-patching and more direct administration of our games without a middle-man. Had it not been for that, we would have been much more hesitant to make the decision.
Fewer distributed versions
Some of you will remember the huge amount of different distributed versions for Arma 2, and all of the problems associated with it. We needed to spend far too much time on creating and testing all the master copies. Every patch had to be tested for every conceivable combination of distribution, patch and DLC. This drained so many of our resources, that we could not support the game itself as much as we'd have liked. By targeting Steam as our primary distribution, we can take those resources and put them to much better use: making the most splendid game possible.
Ready-made functionality
Arma 3 Steamworks offers a library of features which we can fairly quickly hook into Arma 3. Some of them we wanted to develop anyway, but to do it ourselves would again cost valuable resources. External solutions have their own issues, such as the lack of immediate control, but Steamworks saves us needed time. We can take what we want, make adjustments and make sure it all benefits players and mod makers. I am convinced that without this choice, most of the features would not be available at all.
Piracy
Think of it what you want, but piracy is affecting us as a business. However, Bohemia Interactive has tried to grow with the evolution of the Internet, rather than to fight it. We have removed intrusive Digital Rights Management (DRM) from our games several months after release, but cannot afford to launch without such technologies. We strongly believe the best anti-piracy comes from offering valuable online services that people are willing to invest in. Supporting that philosophy: we saw we could not deliver in-house solutions on time, but could take Steam's and expand upon them. It will be possible to run Steam in Offline mode, and still play the game (with the exception of online services obviously, including multiplayer itself).
Focus on game development
All in all, this means we can as developers do what we like most: game development. And by doing what we like, the results are inevitably better. There is a lot of work that surrounds delivering a game that is anything but creative. Without such work however, we could not survive as a business and keep making games. Please realize that any benefit to us as developers, ultimately should be a benefit to you as player. By going with the chosen approach, we get back into the game. Benefits for players Smoother experience
Our belief is that the previous Arma games have had an unacceptably rough setup experience, involving the installation of various support packages and patches. On Steam, all you do is buy the game, download it, and play. Patching is done automatically, and with the introduction of Delta-patching no longer means downloading gigabytes of data. Whereas a few months ago, you would have to re-download entire add-ons when we moved a single tree in the virtual environment, you now only download the offending few kilobytes. Additionally Steam supports some more advanced tools to participate in experimental versions and testing programs via its beta branches. Players who want the smooth experience can just stick with the default version at all times, others get a sneak-peak glimpse at the future and can participate. Online services
Arma 3 As was eluded to before, Steamworks offers some cool features that we can leverage to enhance the Arma experience where it matters. Internally we did an analysis of which features would make sense in Arma 3, and we even invited you to participate. This resulted in some cool ideas, which are in progress of being implemented. We'll save the exact details for a later update, when we can guarantee these features make it in. One quick and simple thing available to any Steam-powered game is taking screenshots and sharing them. How to best support Dedicated Servers and their admins is another topic we are looking at. To give you two keywords summarizing our priorities: User Generated Content and multiplayer. Arma 3
It is important not to forget the bottom-line as set out above: we honestly believe that we would not be able to deliver Arma 3 in 2013 without this decision. Now, a few months ahead, we feel strongly that it is paying off, and soon you'll get a chance to see why.
Preemptive answers
- So, when will you release Arma 3 then? "Soon" has become an overused word, but we are preparing all we need to unveil our plans right this moment.
- Do I have to run the game through Steam? Yes, it will be required to run the game through Steam. We do not believe in always-online types of DRM however, so Offline mode will be supported.
- Will I be able to buy a boxed copy of Arma 3? There will be boxed copies in most regions. These may either be Steam Codes in a retail package, or also contain DVD data (speeding up installation). You will still have to run and update through Steam the first time.
- I don't want any of the benefits Steam brings me, so why should I care? There was a very real chance there would be no Arma 3 this year otherwise.

As a reaction to the arrest of two BIS developers in Greece, BIS renamed the main island of the upcoming mil-sim ArmA3:
Bohemia Interactive has renamed the main island of its upcoming mil-sim game, Arma 3. The new name, ‘Altis’, reflects the distinctive Mediterranean identity of its environment, but distinguishes it from the real-world Greek island of Lemnos, which has served as the main source of inspiration.
The decision follows an incident involving the arrest of two Bohemia Interactive employees, who were spending their holidays on Lemnos. Both were detained for 129 days on suspicion of espionage. They were recently released on bail.
Arma 3’s main island (approx. 350 km²) is inspired by the beautiful environment of the Greek island, Lemnos (approx. 475 km²), artistically re-created based on commercially and publicly available data. It was originally chosen to be the centre-piece of the game after Bohemia Interactive's CEO, Marek Spanel, visited the island on vacation several years ago and shared his impressions with the Arma 3 development team.
However, in view of recent events, the team no longer feels passionate about using the previous name, 'Limnos', and hopes that the new identity, ‘Altis’, will help emphasize the fictional nature of the game. A secondary, significantly smaller island in Arma 3, ‘Stratis’ (approx. 20 km²), will keep its name.
Joris-Jan van ‘t Land, Project Lead on Arma 3, explains: "As part of the creative process, our virtual environments are often rooted in real-life locations and, during development, they evolve and grow along with our design. The resulting fictional environment is often close to its inspiration, but it's never exactly the same - nor would we want it to be. For us, 'Altis' echoes the Mediterranean heart of our island, but differentiates it from any undesired real-life connotations.â€
Arma 3 is scheduled for release in 2013. More precise details will be announced in February.
Bohemia Interacvitve has announced that they will release new ArmA3 intel and information in February on the offical ArmA3 website
Yevgeni89 has submitted us new ArmA2 mod Forze Armate di Capraia that has been released on the BIS Forums by Sakai.
Forze Armate di Capraia - Armed Forces of Capraia, is my "version" of military for the map made called "Capraia" by the French dev-team "NGStudio", I was fascinated by the landscape, colors and the history of it so I thought, why not making army for it?, the island keeps its original story and location till 1796, in the history line Capraia was ruled by the Merchant Republic of Capraia and competed with fellow ally Venice, in the 1930 it has been occupied by the Nazi Germany and freed and given independence in 1945 by Britain and France and it became a Republic of Capraia, a small island with a military and oil... Please do understand this is not a official mod of any type to the original map, this is a personal mod im doing by myself because I feel like this beautiful map needs it inhabitants so I decided to change the history.
This mod is created on community member's views, not only mine, I enjoyed doing this mod and of course I keep on, thanks to this mod I have improved my skills, this is my first major and big mod I have created that gets released, Im happy that I have been working on it 24/7 and I hope you will enjoy it!

Rifles and sniper rifles will kill you due to energy at close range. Long range hits may be will not kill you. 3.4. Bohemia Interactive Studios have updated their website, introducing a new game in the ArmA series called ArmA Tactics which will be apparently released Q2 2013 on the upcomming Nvidia console : Project SHIELD.
Also they might port the game on iOS, Android, PC, MAC and Linux after the initial release.
Arma Tactics takes the finest assets used in the critically acclaimed Arma series and the best from games like Jagged Allianceâ„¢ and X-COMâ„¢.
Arma Tactics is a turn-based close-combat strategy game, where the player takes control of a four-member Special Forces team. There are no given strategies, rails to move on, or paths to follow; it‘s up to the player to decide how he will play through both the story-driven missions and generated missions with randomized objectives.
Whether using stealth or a more direct approach, players will need to use their strategic thinking and use both basic and advanced weaponry while facing many different opponents - ranging from unorganized local militia to smart and skilled mercenaries.
Main Features
* Explore highly detailed battlefield environments that come to life with sophisticated particle systems and post-process effects * See your men come to life with realistic animations captured by a powerful motion-capture solution * Lead them through a thrilling single player campaign or improve your skills in generated missions * Gather experience points to level up your characters, upgrade weapons and unlock special equipment * Choose your difficulty – we make sure the game is fun to play for both casual players and hardcore gamers * Take part in challenging special game modes * Play as you like – by touching your screen or by using gamepad controls

John Spartan has submitted us the new version 0.7 for the ArmA2:OA aircraft-addon F/A-18 Super Hornet that has been released on the BIS Forums
This add-on represents US NAVY current main fighter jet F/A-18 in two E and F variants. When I started this project my main goal was to create an in game BIS like aircraft. So it would be reasonable on PC resources and looked similar as let’s say A10. Also I wanted to avoid all dependencies and scripts as much as possible, because to be honest I don’t find some popular add-ons realistic or fitting in with BIS created atmosphere in game. Off course as I was suggested, latter on final release I will add things like GLT missile box support and ACE mod compatible config, since a lot of people have different tastes from mine. Features:
- Afterburner - Foldable wings - Canopy animation - Flares and radar warning system - Fuselage vapour - Custom textures - Fuel tanks - Carrier landing and tail hook - many weaponsystems
