Donny has released some new WIP-screenshots of his terrain "Shirin Tagab, Fayrab Provinz" on the BIS Forums.
Shirin Tagab is located in the Fayrab Province of Afghanistan. It is a small green valley between the sand dunes of the western desert.
I have cutted the Valley to get an 5x5km terrain, more would give a horrible performance because of the wide flat fields with settlements. But i think this 5x5km gives you a good location for Infantry and small patrol vehicles scenarios.
The main feature of this map is that it has one straight main road, what is part of the "Ring Road" in Afghanistan. From this road you can get from south to north through a middle scale city with markets and backyards between huge houses. Also there are enough side roads to get into the village and field territories.
There are large areas with different fields and a lot of settlements. Where every compound is made individual and also the villages are built up very complex.
Features:
- 5x5km Terrain - huge number of settlements - 1 City - 2-3 Villages - complex compound build - lots of field areas - 1 military FOB
JW Custom has released some new information about his ArmA2 WIP zombie mod "Risen Dead" on the BIS Forums.
I have been working on a zombie survivor mission/game mode for a while which was based on Charons awesome undead mod but now i have decided to skin my own zombies to avoid dependence on other mods and have better control over the zombies.
I have spawn/loot scripts ready so as soon as i finish getting the zombies done and get some zombie sounds recorded i will release a alpha version.
Here're some features that most likely will be added as the project progresses:
-Food system -Water system -Weight system (you can carry two rifles, but how far can you run carrying that weight...?) -Battery system (for flashlights, maybe other stuff too) -Custom loot position (besides BIS building positions which i use now) -Different types of zombie behaviours
Korneel van 't Land from Bohemia Interactive Media Contacts has informed us about Arma 3 status update.
Prague, Czech Republic, Thursday 13 December 2012
In what might be described as an eventful year, Bohemia Interactive has decided to postpone the release of Arma 3. The additional development time enables the project to reach its full potential, with the studio expecting to finalize their release plans in the new year.
Recently, Joris-Jan van ‘t Land, a 10-year veteran of Bohemia Interactive, took over the role of Arma 3 Project Lead from Daniel Musil, who left the studio to pursue other opportunities.
Joris-Jan van ‘t Land: "We’ve been in the process of implementing changes that will help us innovate as a studio under unexpected circumstances - facing problems we simply couldn't have imaginedâ€, referring to the detainment of two Bohemia Interactive employees in Greece. Both were arrested on suspicion of espionage while spending their holiday on Lemnos - an island that served as inspiration for the environment in Arma 3. They have since remained in jail pending legal proceedings. "We're still trying to make sense of the situation and hope that our colleagues will be released soon. Although their plight has certainly affected us on a personal level, we continue working on the tasks identified as key to the release of Arma 3."
The new release window of Arma 3 has been set for 2013. Joris-Jan van 't Land: "I hope this update provides some answers regarding the status of the project. We’re currently sorting the specifics so we can deliver a more complete announcement at the beginning of next year."
The studio is also working on a standalone version of DayZ, which is developed by a team led by Dean Hall.
Pete Knuutinen, one of the members of the HelpivanMartin.org team, created an ArmA Machinima which tells the story of the two developers detained in Greece.
On 9th September, 2012, two Czech citizens, Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar were arrested on Limnos island, Greece. Both of them are charged with espionage. Reason for this accusation was few photographs, which are said to contain military objects, similar to those one can easily find over the internet, supposedly with much better resolution. Film is created by P.J. Knuutinen for informational purposes and to be used in helpivanmartin.org team efforts to spread the word and help our friends, who have now been detained for three months. Intention of this film is hereby solely informational, with dramatized means of motion picture. It is not meant to hurt or offend anything or anyone.

Finally after many years of development, we witness the first release of Hell in thePacific, a mod that tries to cover the events that took place in Asia and the Pacific during the Second World War.
We decided to give our first release the rather arbitrary version number 0.5. We felt the need to release the mod now for various reasons, but would like to point out that the mod is still in beta phase as there are many unfinished and missing things we have yet to implement.
This first release is dedicated to land combat in the Pacific and the India/Burma theatres, mainly on the finished or at least almost finished maps 'Tarawa', 'Peleliu' and 'Kohima Ridge'.
We will include other WIP islands as well, so you can see what we are working on. The same is true for many of the air and sea components of the mod. These things are still in beta stage of development, but will be included as some sort of sneak peek or preview.
blakeace has informed us about updated AI Forward Observer v1.4.02, PRADAR (Player Radar) V1.2.03and PINS (Pseudo Inertial Navigation System) and Bombing v1.03.02 relearse on the BI Forums.
Blake's AI Forward Observer v1.4.02
Added: Distance given in "debug" mode is referenced to the first artillery unit synced to the module if using placed units. Module is used for dynamically placed units. Added: Marker range circles showing ranges when using "debug" mode. Improved: FO's will now only call missions from one battery at a time if they are synced to multiple AI FO modules. If using multiple batteries and FO's will more likely spread the fire missions around the different FO's better.
Blake's PRADAR v1.2.03
v1.2.03Changed: Near object information gathering moved to a second thread. Changed: Reduced the number of dots and names displayed to reduce stutter. Total of 6 each. Added: Number of peripheral dots displayed dynamically changes to only have a maximum combination of 8 controls displayed at once. Excluding lists. To help reduce stuttering issue introduced in game engine changes in patch 1.62. Changed: Increased the range to 80m. Changed: Collection area is now forward of the players view. Centre 30m unless the player is looking at the ground closer. This allows better filtering of desired focus. Changed: Reduced the peripheral dot size to 50% to be less obtrusive. Changed: Label size, position, range viewable, and colour/alpha value for easier viewing.
Blake's PINS v1.03.02
Altered: Menus to be created with the aircraft rather than dynamically to prevent duplication.
At the moment our .ftp servers have reached a saturation point. We need to extend their capacity and we are working on it at the moment. Due to the capacity problems we had to temporarily disable large Mods hosting. So large Mods such as Invasion 1944 v2.6 or Cold War Rearmed² : Demo 4 are unavailable to download. We are sorry for the inconveniences.
Around 150 people have protested in Prague in support of the two Czechs detained in Greece. The men have been detained for nearly three months in a local jail on charges of espionage. The organizers of the protest have given a petition for their release to the ministry of foreign affairs and the Greek embassy. Their release, in spite of diplomatic intercessions, is not in sight.
In support of Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar: Street protest in Prague, on Nov. 26th, 2012
Czech citizens Ivan Buchta and Martin Pezlar have been detained in Greece since September 9, 2012 on charges of espionage. These charges are, as far as it is possible to tell, completely groundless.
It is hard to see our two colleagues, friends and fellow citizens of the Czech Republic being kept in prison, in appalling conditions, based on dubious allegations, and referred to as Turkish agents. The whole situation is all the more absurd considering that the Czech Republic and Greece are both member states of the EU and, inclusive of Turkey, allies within NATO.
Ivan and Martin are no spies, they are talented developers of the ArmA games series that spreads the good name of the Czech Republic all around the world. Their games sold millions of copies and won numerous awards. The ArmA III game may be a cause for their current predicament. It takes place on a smaller, geographically modified version of the island Limnos in 2035. Obviously, set so far in the future, no current military installations are part of the game. Ivan and Martin allegedly knowingly and intentionally took pictures of military objects. They were taken into custody in their hotel and as far as we know the evidence against them consists of a handful of pictures with some military facilities in the background, inadvertently captured on quite commonplace vacation pictures. The pictures and videos of the very same military facilities can be easily found on the Internet, in much better quality.
It is not our task to judge the guilt in this affair. However, it is our considered opinion that Greece, being a partner and ally of the Czech Republic in EU and NATO, should treat our citizens with dignity and respect, and without delay. The evidence presented makes us think that the espionage charge is utterly absurd. The strike of the legal professionals in Greece unduly delays any decision.
The members of public gathered here on November 26th, 2012 wish to express their unanimous support for Ivan and Martin and call on His Excellency Mr. Georges Paizis, the Ambassador of the Hellenic Republic to the Czech Republic, to approach the representatives of the Greek Government about expediting the solution of this issue. We are concerned that the whole affair can seriously damage the image of Greece as a free and democratic country not only in the Czech Republic, but also internationally.
Ivan and Martin are well known and the affair is closely followed by their fans and media both locally and internationally. The petitions in their support at petition.helpivanmartin.org and www.petice.biz were signed by more than 21 thousand people from all over the world. The Facebook group for their release has 4,000 supporters. Their fate is closely followed by all Czech TV stations and major dailies and also by the biggest international video game news servers.
Many of us know Ivan and Martin personally. We are one hundred percent sure that they are not spies or agents. They are consummate professionals and decent, law-obeying human beings. We join the ranks of their supporters.
Greek Prime Minister Antonis Samaras will be directly dealing with the matter of two detained Czechs on suspicion of espionage. He promised that to the Czech Prime Minister Petr Nečas.
Czech prime minister met his counterpart near the end of the European Union summit in Brussels.
“I asked Mr. Prime Minister Samaras to ensure Greek authorities give this matter their attention to avoid any kind of misunderstanding that could hurt the relations between our two countries. I can say that Mr. Samaras reacted very positively and said that he will pay attention to this matter,†Czech Prime Minister said.
