Drew has announced on the BI Forums, the release of a Gigan's Mobile Missle Launcher "SCUD" addon, a port from Gigan ArmA Scud.
Freshly ported from ARMA 1, WITH Gigan's permission, I am releasing the ARMA 2 Scud, (Vilas has allso informed me that he is working/worked out a newer Scud model, so don't be surprised if you see another SCUD missle soon). ... All credit goes to Gigan, I am only credited with porting the addon , so thanks to Gigan for this awesome edition to ARMA 2. ( And Vilas for making the model in the begining of 2008)
Rommel [AAF] has released a NoMapTex addon on the BI Forums. Removes the annoying satellite textures 'attached' with the original maps in ArmA2. I saw the Map Plus addon that was released by NouberNou, but couldn't stand the new colours nor the added features, so I went for something simpler and just removed the satellite textures from the map instead. I must give some credit to NouberNou, especially for the initiative and idea, but it is only one line of code; and thus I don't expect much credit for this either. Enjoy, it removes personally one of the worst features in [default] ArmA2.
Aeneas2020 has released an updated version of his UK : Special Forces addon on the BI Forums.
The 1st update for my UK Special Forces pack. I wanted to get this out while I work on some other things because it will probably be a while before the next, and very major, overhaul for this project happens. Anyway change log time I guess.
1) Unit camo (especially desert units) tweaked to blend better with arma2 environment.
2) Added new units with masks. These guys started out as a bit of fun on something else i was working on and were intended to represent guys pulling scarves up around their faces in sandstorms but i got a bunch of requests from people asking for them in all kinds of camo so here are the brits. Please note the skull mask is just for fun and NO ghost from Mw2 was not my inspiration. If any of you remember there were some shots of Brits and Amis wearing skull face masks during the invasion of Iraq, i believe they were told to remove them (can't remember) anyway found an old pic of that and so we have the skull mask.
Also please note original units are still included, as these have also been updated.
3) All units now appear in the group menu in the mission editor. That should make placing them a little easier one everyone.
Binkowski released his Generic Army Special Forces v1.0 on the BI Forums.
Well here it is! This addon is made to depict current Army Special forces. It's just a simple retexture of the stock BIS Force Recon guys. Good for Army Special Forces missions. Also, they kinda sorta resemble the dudes from MW2. You know, those douche bags that follow that cunt bag of a General? Oh sorry, spoiler! Anyway. Yeah. Enjoy.
Yes this addon is signed for multiplayer. If you need the server key PMme.
Here is a stunning new : Mapfact closes the doors. How its possible such a reference site is going to disappeared from our gaming universe ? Well, it look like it's true, read the farewell new from Mapfact. Thank you guys for all you have done, all you have given to the community during all those years. Bye.
If something suddenly disappears we were use to have it leaves us with the feeling of a loss. Maybe you'll feel the same with Mapfact. For more than seven years we have given our best to entertain the community of Operatoin Flashpoint, Armed Assault and ArmA 2 with missions and addons as well as supporting you with useful tools and competent help with editing, scripting and creating addons.
The first years with Operation Flashpoint have really been a great time. We literally used to spend nearly every free minute to create something special and always aspired to keep up with the guys of Bohemia Interactive Studio if not even going a bit further here and there. Of the initial Mapfact members - recruited back then by jos, the founder of Mapfact.net - Chneemann is the only one who is still active. When jos left for good he handed over the baton to Chneemann.
As the bright star of OFP began to fade we once already thought about closing Mapfact. The community was decreasing and the feedback got lesser. But exactly that feedback has always been an important part of ourmotivation to start just another project. At the same time it's been pretty much the only reward for our efforts. As Armed Assault was announced we were confident the community would grow again. However it is not an easy thing to repeat such an outstanding success as that of Operation Flashpoint. BIS had to learn that and we neithercouldn't quite resume the great days of OFP. Nevertheless we decided to get together and to continue the way to provide you some special things again. Unfortunately fewer of us were able to participate actively.
Sadly today is the day that we have to tell you Mapfact is closing its doors by the end of this year. This is not because of ArmA or ArmA 2 but rather because time has taken its toll of us. Since the release of OFP we have grown eight years older. During this period of time many things did change in our private as well as our professional lifes, interests change. Only few of us still have the time to create ambitious missions or addons. That is why we have to say farewell to you and to thank you for your constant loyalty over the years. It was a fine time with its ups and downs we were granted to spend with you and we will never forget.
We want to take this opportunity to say thank you to jos who had started all this, we would like to thank our Mapfact mates Blake, DJ Kroßova, Flashpoint_k, MP-Studio who went this way with us for some time, we like to say thank you to our translators MephisBelle and simba who also participated in betatesting. And of course we have to mention Idontno for all his part in organising two workshops with us, we say thank you to big x, to Marco-Polo-IV and to Sky for for their great projects they did with us.
A heartfelt thanks goes out to all betatesters - the ASC! -, to all who contributed missions, addons, forum help, advice, good vibrations. It couldn't have been done without any of you, literally. Thank you!
And who knows, one day when we're old and decrepit and hear the words "Malden Islands" in a TV Show about antique computer games our tired eyes will shine for a moment and we will say "Malden Islands? Oh yeah, I´ve been there a couple years when I was a young man..."
Yours, Mapfact Team

Gutm@sher has released an updated 2.048 version of his Sbrodj port of Benny's BE Warefare on the BI Forums. I ve updated the Sbrodj port to 2.048 and made additional changes. Am making sure there are no errors before posting a d/l link but it is currently available via Urban Resistance 32 man server (Sbrodj Warfare BEv2048) and U.K. 16 man server. Ported mission changes overview:
- removed castle sbrodj as capture point and 2 of the aa guns (all aa has not been removed). the closeness of the sbrodj capture points (north, south and castle) interfered with proper camp respawn in some cases. - added the following capture points (33 total) - camps echo and whiskey (small military bases in foot hills), added 2 defense capture points which serve as outer defenses at each of the 2 main airports. this serves to 1. make them tougher to capture (especially with occupation) and 2. further concentrates power at the corners of the map. the main airports are quite the prize now as they should be. - all mission placed defense squads that do not have spawn function have been removed. I may add more back later. - modified some start points - camps november and sierra are still not capture points but contain stashes of old t-34 tanks, ammo caches and civilian transport choppers. you will find these very useful when playing with low start funds/supply. getting to one and building defenses around it is a good idea in this case as it also gives you proximity to ridgeline overlooking main valley. t-34 can be rearmed at town centers. all parameters, etc have not been modded from baseline. Just easier to keep up that way! As always, thanks to Benny for an awesome mission and Old Bear for a great warfare friendly map.
Topas has released a Polish Loading Screens pack on our Forums.
Just a small modification I made being bored while sick last week. This will allow you to replace the default USMC loading screen that came with A2 with custom made collages featuring the Polish Army [replacement method described in the included readme file]. Included are four versions to choose from, as presented ... ; Have fun! If there shall be any demand for similar loading themes featuring other armies of the world; please post your wishes and if time allows I will make similar packs for other nations.
