  Flying Dagger - Loki Addon release    
JackB informed us that the addonmaker Loki released a beta version of his Flying Dagger on the BI Forums.

The entire purpose of this and the others models that'll be released over the days are from a group of us making tutorials for the community. we claim no ownership.. we claim we did this and have given it freely as an educational tool back to the community.

Features..

- Canopy closes automatically..
- Auto high speed wings deploy
- Armed to the teeth!

Found under 3 SIDES > AIR > SKYSLED

Known issues.... everything we haven't done yet. Most of all have fun... if you can't.. park it!.. its too much for ya! the file *NON BINARIZED for easy access.

  A.C.E Island Pack v1.00 released! Addon release    


Darkwolf and SaS TrooP informed us that the A.C.E Mod, after the mod release for christmas, released an huge A.C.E Island Pack v1.00. This pack contains 32 new maps for Armed Assault, including BIS orginal OFP islands. You can check the islands list on their Forums .

What is the ACE Island Pack?
With the permission of each original author you find the most popular community created islands
of Operation Flashpoint as well the OFP:CWC and OFP:Resistance islands converted to ArmA.

Our plan/goal for the release:

- Convert the island to ArmA.
- Update the islands with ArmA objects.
- Best performance and look compromise.
What did we accomplish:
- All island in the ArmA file format (HUGE THANKS to Spooner for Roller).
- No dependencies. You can load them with any other addon or MOD.
- Tested in MP / dedicated server.
- Replaced all possible objects/buildings with an ArmA counterpart. The others
objects/buildings have been converted to ArmA as part of the ACEIP addons.
- Uses OFP:Res Nogova vegetation for best performance/look.
- Replaced the 'block forest objects' with 'single tree pattern'.
- Forest trees can be brought down by explosions.
- Forest trees slow down vehicles, yet can be brought down.
- Single ground texture technology - several to choose from via client side config.
- You can even assign each island a texture individually.
- ArmA clutters (especially via PROPER World - see more info below

  VOP Sound Mod 1.17 Demo Video Screenshots    
v0.2 has posted a video demo of the version 1.17 of his sound mod over at the BI Forums.



1.17 WIP (capture of my test mission), I hope to release it within the next week.
Note the new distant sounds, they fit in pretty well imo.

  Project RACS: Type 21 Frigate Addon release    
wld427 of Project RACS has announced the mod's alpha release of their Type 21 Frigate over at the BI Forums

Big thanks to CBFASI and the 1982 flashpoint in the falklands crew for allowing us to use the base model....

you can land on it and get in....
you can drive around and shoot the hell out of anything....

treat this as an alpha....

there are a couple known issues.... seems its hard to get into sometimes but just place it next to a dock so you can walk near the hull at the front gun turret.... there really is no fix for the falling off helicopter, although connor has found a way to make it stay "there"..... also if you start as the driver you cannot move to another turret.....other than that its really fun to play with. the Sea Wolfs, Harpoons, bofors gun, and cannon... this bad boy rolls with some fire power.

  Nightstalkers: Shadow of Namalsk released Addon release    
sumrak released version 0.3 of his Nightstalkers: Shadow of Namalsk mod on our Forums. This mod includes a campaign and it is based on the well known S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: Shadow of Chernobyl game.

Version 0.3 including:
- proloque for campaign Namalsk Crisis
- 6 MP missions (Last Man Standing and Team Deathmatch type)
- a very detailed northen part of Namalsk island
- soldiers from 3 fractions and Tamika character from NightStalkers
- zombies
- lot of new buildings and objects
- Mil Mi-28A (Havoc) (cockpit no complete for now)

  Vilas Milbonuspack and vilas P85 released Addon release    
We are starting to wonder if Vilas is needing any sleep at all, because beside working on the Project85 Mod he has again released some addons for you to play with. Vilas's christmas presents add some more police units (MP and civil police) aswell as some more SLA and RACS troops to your Armed Assault.

  Huge RKSL release Addon release    
On Christmas the RKSL Mod released a massive amount of addons in the BI Forums. In particular they released their AH6 and AH9 Lynx, RAF Puma HC1, a flare system, their long awaited Cargo System and the required Core System. As usual this release is a must have for every OFP/ArmA fan. There had been some issues for users not using the english (505) release of ArmA but they have been fixed now. Enjoy !

This is a WIP addon is NOT finished, There are several known issues with the addon. Mostly Cosmetic in nature:

- All Textures are WIP and will change!
- Several of the cockpit instruments are blank
- Cockpit SMDI is too shiny
- GPMG has no RVMATs
- GPMG Texture is poorly optimised.

Originally the cargo system was intended for RKSL heavy transport vehicles only. However the idea soon expanded into a generic system, for any Arma addon configured to support it’s functionality. It is most likely that the first stage of release, will support all the default Arma vehicles and objects, considered suitable for the system.

Compatible RKSL vehicles and objects will be introduced in the future. While initially this will only provide a limited number of transporters and cargo types, it will serve to introduce the concept to the wider community.

Beta V3.0 (texture fix)

On the bright side I've not added anything new and fixed the texture error, so this should be good.

I've spent most of the holidays sitting in this thread fixing annoying wrrors, no ones fault but my own.

I apologise for the F$%k ups.

I guess a greater being is telling me I shouldn't be converting/making addons.

  BMD 1 Alpha version, by Soul_Assassin Addon release    
Soul_Assassin released an alpha version of his BMD 1 addon on the BI Forums.

Ho ho ho... umm ok abit late for that. I decided not to be original and also chip in to the big pile of presents ye all got this christmas. So For boxing day I present this:

This addon is NOT meant to function as nor does it represent the quality of the finished product. It is only meant to test out the basic workings and provide the player with something to mess around with during the holidays.

KNOWN ISSUES

There are a number of known issues with the current version:
- The AT3 proxy does not disappear after being fired. Neither does it when all ammo has been depleted.
- Gunner optics are not correct.
- No damage textures as a proper damage model is yet to be developed.
- No interior textures as they are yet to be done.
- Not binarized.
- Not signed.
Please do not report these issues.

  English Elm Tree - Mikebart Addon release    
The addonmaker mikebart released today his English Elm tree on the BI Forums.

Just finished my first large tree, the english elm, I've made 2 versions, a normal one with a high lod of about 15000 points with 9 lod levels and a light version of about 7000 points, 8 lod levels. Its made to be scaled quite large, as you can see in those pics above.

I've been experimenting with a pretty good way of loding trees using the render to texture, projection modifier in 3dsmax, ill post more about that soon, but i'd rather get a bit of feedback on these trees first, particually on performance.
Im not really sure if putting all this into only 2 materials and a shadow texture is a good idea, but it will definitly reduce draw calls, it might also create other expences though.

I think I made the mistake of making the foliage peices too small and relied on using lots of polys to fill out the tree, so ill call this the spring version, or perhaps summer (but not doing too well).

I had to cull out a lot of tris from Lod0 to get it to load in bulldozer, so it doesnt really match the other lods aswell as i'd have liked it to so i'd reccomend using the lite version. oh yeah, and Merry Xmas for yesterday

  Safwan, Iraq Map - Bravo 6 Screenshots    
Bravo 6 informed us all on the BI Forums that he released six early screenshots of his work in progress Safwan, Iraqi Map.

Safwan is a sunni town in southeast Iraq on the border with Kuwait. It was the site of an Iraqi Air Force base. It is located along the infamous Highway of Death from the Persian Gulf War of 1991. Terrain size is set to 20480x20480 with 40x40 meters value set in Texture Layers.

Note: The following images were taken in 10000m View Distance, sorry for the crappy result. (i know i need a new machine) Any additional, historic information about Safwan is appreciated. PS- The map is in a very early Work in Progress.

  IDF Mistaravim undercover units & Fatah militia Addon release    
Miles Teg from the Lost Brothers Mod released their IDF Mistaravim undercover units and Fatah militia on the BI Forums.

Merry Christmas!!! Sorry for you guys who Christmas is already over for but it's only halfway through here where I am in the states. Anyhoo....
I just wanted to release something small since our main Historic pack is very close to being ready but is missing a few critical things that we're waiting on.

This little pack that I'm releasing now is a couple of addons put together in the past week.
It is the IDF Mistaravim undercover units and Fatah militia.

The Mistravim requires the Fatah addon to work and both require LoBo Addon Pack #3.
Also included is the latest IMI weapons pack by Vilas which is also required for the Mistaravim units.

Oh I should also note that the FATAH militia are found on the Indpendent side just in case people wanted to make Fatah vs. Hamas missions

  Irak insurgency v2.0 by Benamaina Addon release    
Benamaina from the GIR Clan informed us that he released v2.0 of his Irak insurgency units. Addon contains different Iraqi Insurgent Units.

Changes in this version:

- Fixed wound textures
- added a new vest
- fixed mlods missing and textures
- repair bug of face go out of the head scarf
