HDlaeppli has released some more information about the version 1.23 of the Switzerland Mod in the BI Forums. This new version will mainly fix bugs.
The whole mod is with the new BIS-tools revised, binarized, signed. (version 1.22 was still 90% without official BIS tools.)
- better performance - Practically no errors in the Arma.rpt (arma.rpt with v1.22 ca 4Mb, now some kb.) - weapons reworked (invisible Weapons in vehicles fixt) - some reworked character models (functioning Wounds for hidden characters i used; Oberst, Korpskmdt, Bodyguards, Reporter, civ.Pilot....(only Mary`s wounds dont work, becouse the are not defined in Amra, but i will make a full working female character for v.1.3) - many little bugfixes in all configs, models, sounds (V8 motor loop fixt), textures ect. - updated Camofacepack
New in this version: - new custom menue, loading screens, intro anims. - new Ghillie Sniper models.
Spooner has updated his SPON Map script to version 3.0 and released it in the BIS Forums. This pack of scripts will allow you to draw on the ingame map while playing. Have fun becoming the next Picasso !
Map that allows players to make freehand drawings, as well as place markers in a more manageable/intuitive way. The choice of exactly who to send this information to is extended from the "vanilla" ArmA options.
Although these scripts have been reaonably tested in SP, they have not yet been thoroughly tested in MP. Thus, it is very likely that there are still bugs when using SPON Map in MP games.
Today badger has informed us about a beta release of his ArmAReplacement Maker. This program will allow you to create your own replacement files.
It is only a beta version of the program. So if you see bugs, or have some ideas for the program, please send it to me. So this program can help you whith creating addon of infantry.
Program can: - change models of standart units (working) - change side of standart units (not tested) - change weapon of standart units (not tested) - give weapon from different addons to standart units (not tested)

The Unsung MOD has a recruitment going on currently. Although all other fields of expertise are pretty much covered, we lack manpower in the Animators squad. raphael informed us that ssviator is working on a new female soldier model. He posted some very interesting screenshots on the Armaholic.com forums.
I was kind of disappointed that there were no female soldiers in ARMA so I made my own based on the legendary Red alert heroine Tanya.
Ingame description: "Tanya is a freelancing Special Ops operator currently unbound to any contractor. In the Sahrani conflict she fought on the northern side as a military advisor, hired by Moscow using the conflict as a proxywar. Tanya has earlier participated in a number of conflicts some including the Balkans, Iraq, Afghanistan and Chechnya. She is specialized in guerrilla- and unconventional warfare were she prefers using her own equipment and uniform often giving her more precise concealment then standard issue camouflage."
DMarwick updated his JTD Smoke Effects MP to beta 5.21 and released it on the BIS Forums.
This beta includes:
DMSmokeEffects, thick billowing smoke for helicopters & fuel trucks, and thick black smoke for tanks etc. After about a twenty minutes (default timing, can be affected by multiplier in ArmA\dta\DMSmokeEffects_Config.hpp file) the smoke changes to smoldering smoke. After another twenty minutes the smoldering smoke peters out. If it rains, the smoldering smoke will steadily get lighter in colour and will extinguish quicker, depending on how fast it's raining. After about three-quarters of an hour the average battlefield will be clear of smoke generally, but there's randomness coded in.
Fixes in Beta 5.21 : - Multiplayer fix for Smoke Grenade VB (hopefully :)) plus some minor config corrections for all 3 addons.
deanosbeano has released a proof of concept of his Destructible Buildings project on the OFPEC Forums. He is asking dedicated server owners to test this innovative addon in multiplayer.

The newly joined addon maker stubblehopper has just sent us two work-in-progress pictures of his WWII fallschirmsjägers, the models are still early work in progress, but a few finishing touches and a talented skinner, should make up for it. The addon is a part of the Brothers in Arms mods aim to recreate the WWII battles in Western Europe. We keep an eye on this mods greatly efforts to bring Arma back to WWII.
Ghost., the french addonmaker has informed us by PM and in the ArmA-Fr Forums, about this progress to the v2.0 and a short video for this Robotech Vf-1s Fighter.
Since the diffusion of my mod, I continued a little to work over. The Fighter expand "a little" ... I was planning to bring some improvement and finaly, it's a new version who's coming :) But, he stay a lot of works.
All that I can say it is that nowadays quite a lot of things were ameliorated : - Models much close of the original. - A quarantine of additional anim's. - Better handiness. - Easier and much shorter takeoff.
Bart van Paassen of BI Studio has updated their Developers Blog with a new article about the open source Warfare project.
The blog post talks about how the Warefare map has been made to allow community members to edit it and personalize it to how they wish. It also contains information on how to modify Warfare to your own needs (with links to the BI Wiki).
SmartDrv from the FDF Mod has informed us that they updated their website with several new screenshots and information about these upcoming weapons: M80 pistol, 12.7mm ITKK, 112 RsKes Apilas and TRG-42 (8.6 kiv 2000)!
Sorry for the lack of updates but I've been working hard at my job, trying to get a big project finished during the summer.
Here are couple of shots from last summer's refresher course for you military enthusiasts, first of which shows beret-wearing reservist taking potshots with a "trusty" old M80 pistol. The latter one is a picture of 12.7mm ITKK equipped with optical anti-aircraft sight.
The heavy tube being wielded in the third shot by some AT guy is the infamous 112 RsKes Apilas, bringing memories from those long marches years ago when I had to haul two of them, one on each shoulder. At the refresher exercise I got to shoot with TRG-42 (8.6 kiv 2000) and kick was heavier than old TKKIV 85 but the ballistics is way better, extending range 100s of meters further than that of the old rifle.
