4 INSTALLATION

4.1 LIST OF FILES IN COMPILATION

sa_bmd_pack_1.pbo - main addon file
sa_bmd_pack_1.pbo.o915.bisign - digital signature of the author for
this file
o915.bikey - public key for servers
README.txt - this documentation file
README_RUS.txt - Russian documentation file

4.2 INSTALLATION

Place the files "sa_bmd_pack_1.pbo" and "sa_bmd_pack_1.pbo.o915.bisign"
into the Armed Assault add-on folder. For example: "C:\Games\ArmA\AddOns".
Furthermore, files can be put into a mod folder, for example:
"C:\Games\ArmA\@MYADDONS\AddOns\".

Public key: "o915.bikey" should be copied into the server key folder
for example: "C:\ArmA\Keys".

5 CONTROL FUNCTIONS FOR USE IN MISSIONS

To control all the functions included with the BMD-1 the file
"\sa_bmd_pack_1\control.sqf" should be called up with different
parameters:

nil = [OBJECT, FUNCTION, PARAMS] execVM "\sa_bmd_pack_1\control.sqf";

* OBJECT - depending on the situation can be the BMD as well as one
of the crew (inside the BMD). If the script is initialized through
the mission editor then this parameter can simply be
"this" (without quotes).

* FUNCTION - name of the function in quotes. Allowed function names
are described below.

* PARAMS - Function parameters. When more than one parameter is
required, they should be provided as an array.

5.1 MARKING SYSTEM

The diagrams show different marking positions:

|
| _____
| / \ MARKING SCHEME
_^_/_______\___
| 123|_____| # | Markings:
|====|_____|====|
|_|___________|_| @ - Army type markings
|_|-----------|_|
|_| |_| # - Regiment sign

[Back View] 123 - Hull number

There is also markings on the top of the gunner hatch. There, you can
place either the army type markings or the Gvardia sign.

Upon initialization of the BMD in a mission all markings are random.
If specific markings are required, then the function "marking" should
be used.

As the function PARAMETER an array of the hull number, regiment sign
and the army type variables should be used. If the Gvardia is required,
then instead of the last parameter an array should be used containing the
army type parameter and a boolean "true" (without quotes).

Let's look at the parameters and their possible values:

... "marking", [#1, "#2", ["#3",#4]] ...

#1 - HULL NUMBER
Any number between 100 and 999, given without quotes. Any number
below a 100 will result in a random number.

#2 - REGIMENT NUMBER
String operator given in quotes. Possible values:
7 - Symbol "Target" (Dot in a circle)
76 - Symbol "Inverted triangle"
106 - Symbol "Triangle"
kvadrat - Symbol "Square"
no - Symbol will not be displayed at all
random - Symbol will be random

#3 - ARMY TYPE
String operator given in quotes. Possible values:
vdv - Symbol VDV
gru - Symbol GRU (bat)
mvd - Symbol of the Interior Ministry
no - Symbol will not be displayed at all

#4 - GVARDIA
Boolean type, given without quotes. possible values:
true - Gvardia will be displayed
false - Instead of the Gvardia, the army type will be
displayed. (See above)

For example:
nil = [this,"marking",[915,"76",["mvd",true]]]
execVM "\sa_bmd_pack_1\control.sqf";

would produce a BMD with hull number 915, an inverted triangle, Interior
Ministry sign with an addition Gvardia on the gunner hatch.

5.2 SUSPENSION CONTROL

The suspension on the BMD has two positions: normal raised and
lowered, in which case the ground clearance is only 10 cm. For changing
the clearance in the mission, the function "suspension" should be used. As
the OBJECT you should indicate the driver of the BMD.

The function "suspension" only takes one parameter at a time:

... "suspension", #1 ...

#1 - SWITCH
String operator given in quotes:
up - Raised
down - Lowered
- Any other word would switch it to the alternative
position.

5.3 WATER SHIELD CONTROLER

To reduce water overflow during offshore maneuvers, the BMD is
equipped with a water shield. To raise or lower the shield in the mission,
the function "watershiels" should be used. As the OBJECT you should
indicate the driver of the BMD.

The function "watershields" only takes one parameter at a time:

... "watershields", #1 ...

#1 - SWITCH
String operator given in quotes:
up - Raised
down - Lowered
- Any other word would switch it to the alternative
position.

5.4 EXAMPLE OF USE IN A MISSION

Here you can see a simple example of different function usage:

6 KNOWN PROBLEMS

6.1 ATGM "Konkurs"

Attempts to add a gunner to BMD-1P through the command moveInTurret,
can result in critical error and game crash.
(For example: bmDozerGuner moveInTurret [_bmd,[0,1]];)

Attempt to switch to 9M113 operator position from any place other than
the gunner's in the BMD-1P can result in two crew members present in the
main turret, which is incorrect. Thus, avoid doing this. Due to
limitations in the game engine, the use of the ATGM on the BMD-1P should
be conducted as follows:

1. When in the gunner position, choose "9M113 OPERATOR" in the action
menu.
2. Now choose "Turn out" in the action menu.

To get back to the gunner position:

3. Choose "Turn in".
4. Choose "Gunners position".

Alternative use can have unexpected effects.
