I just finished PART 1 of my tutorial. It focuses on real life maps. It begins with fetching real life DEM and ends with the implementation of the satellite image as background in VISITOR 3.
I will post more and more parts of the tutorial in the same speed as I create my map, making it a kind of mapmaking BLOG
When everything is done up to the release, I will merge the parts and release it as a whole tutorial.

R3F-Clint from the TEAM R3F informed the community that they have released v1.04 of their R3F Realism scripts on the BI Forums.
R3F_Realism scripts aims to reinforce ArmA 2 's and operation arrowhead's realism in managing tiredness and weight.
Players won't be able anymore to carry an M240 machine gun and 5 ammo loaders and be efficient in a fight after a 2000m sprint ! Rest will be necessary before engaging. Or use of vehicles find at least their first function : transport.
Features : R3F_Realism is made of two parts :
1.R3F_Weight Management of gear's weight carried by each player. All weapons, ammo, items (compass, binocular...) are listed and weighted.
2. R3F_Tired Management of player's tiredness. Tiredness is computed following player's movements. The more he walks the more he'll get tired, he also will get tired faster following the terrain declivity. Associated with R3F Weight, tiredness management is much more realistic because it is directly related to carried weight. Combining them really increases gameplay realism.
Characteristics : - Weight is displayed in ArmA 2 gear's window - Compatible with addons which add guns or ammunitions - Clearly-explained configuration files (french and english) which permit to customize the system - Multilingual via a "stringtable" (default : english & french) - Compatible : MP, JIP, SP - Compatible to Combined Operations (A2 1.8+ OA 1.55)
Installation : The installation is explained step by step in the INSTALL.pdf file (in english and french). It can be easily installed on a mission and does not require a lot of knowledge in ArmA 2 mission editing. A demo mission is available in the file
Viking_NFS has released an Woodland patch1 for the Norwegian Military Forces Project (v 1.1) on the BI-Forums.
I was looking through the addons in the editor today, and found that I was unhappy with the color of the woodland uniforms. They seemed too new-looking, and almost cartoonish when compared to other addons and original game units. Moreover, I felt they did not blend in with the overall "gray" theme of the game. Therefore, I desaturated all woodland uniform textures to make them more subdued.
Bon released a new version v1.03 of his MP Mission called COOP 20 Takistan Force for OA on the BI Forums.
Not as many changes as some may have expected (was pretty busy during the last months). However, the focus in this update is...
The Commander role: Not important to solve the mission, the commander can make life much easier. - The UAV can be used to detect high value targets and hostages in no time (e.g. rescue pilot task). - Troops can now request assets like vehicles and ammunition/weapons while in the battlefield. The request granted by the commander, a C130 moves in to the drop zone and drops the requested supplies. - Being close to the MHQ (a MEV Stryker), the commander can build command posts providing access to the supplydrop management and UAV, - additional respawn points, - additional barracks for recruiting, - AA launchers... The list of assets can easily be extended using the enclosed config script. Besides that stuff and some minor tweaks and improvements, I still hope people can have some fun with the new version anyway.
The downloadable archive comes now also with the unpacked mission files, so that everyone can easily load it in the mission editor in order to extend/modify/customize the mission to match individual preferences. Regarding to an ACE edition of the new version, further information will follow (however, such edition does not exist yet, and once again I'd appreciate any effort on community's side

Sickboy informed the community on the BI Forums that there's a signed hotfix for CBA (Community Base Addon) available. An official v0.7.1 release will be next friday.
OscerMike released his 75th Ranger Regiment Multi-cam units on the BI Forums.
Info These rangers I bring to you are my first re-texture/texture, I only learn't a week ago how to actually get all this stuff working and I must give Nixo a big shout out for helping me along the process as well as letting me use his multi-cam re-textures as a stable setup. The re-textures are re-textures of BIS ACU soldiers, so shout to BIS for there amazing work and amazing game!
