  Arma 2: Private Military Company - Special Report Videos    

Michal Harangozo from Bohemia Interactive has informed us about this Arma 2: Private Military Company - Special Report YouTube video.

They aren't Tier 1; this isn't special ops.
They are contractors; this is Private Military Company.

A new video update about the forthcoming add-on to Arma 2 has been declassified - take a look at the work of private contractors from a different perspective!

This latest video takes a closer look at the often tough situation faced by private contractors on the ground and the challenges that their very presence poses to coalition peacekeeping forces in the volatile Green Sea Region.




The Arma 2: Private Military Company is the addon for Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead and/or Arma 2: Combined Operations. It can not be played seperately and does require the original game in order to be played.

Arma 2: Private Military Company will be deployed exclusively for PC on 24th November 2010. It will be available for GBP 7.99/EUR 8.99/USD 9.99.

  CIA SOG/SAD units WIP Screenshots    
Fox '09 released four early work in progress screenshots of their CIA SOG/SAD units.

I got the new arm model weighted (mind you still wip, it looks bulky as hell) and stuff set up. probably only 1 guy is going to use the IBA, and few will use this particular arm model. i will try to smooth out the shoulder pocket sooner or later ..

working on the uniform still. the protecs are just for show

  Invasion 1944 - Free Fall MP Mission Mission release    

PacUK released a new Multiplayer mission for the Invasion 1944 Mod called Free Fall on the BI Forums.

Game mode: Team versus Team
Players: 1-64

Overview: Both sides are in control of one airbase and one resource point. Each side has a group of infantry for defending their airbase, paratroopers for defending their resource point and attacking the enemy positions, and several fighter squadrons. The first team to destory the enemies resource point and the AA guns defending the enemy airbase wins.

Version 0.1 notes:
-Only pilots can fly
-Paratroopers start the mission at their teams resource point but will respawn back at the airbase.
-Both sides have a C47 (locked) that they can use to Parachute in to any point on the map (placeholder until we have a german transport plane so both sides can actually fly their paratroopers to the destination, used teleport instead of a flyable C47 both sides to avoid confusion but easy to add in if there's a demand for it).
-Currently anyone can use the C47 to paradrop.
-All vehicles at the airbases respawn after 300 seconds (after being destoryed or abandoned).

Future plans:
-Paratrooper only transport planes.
-Rewards for capturing resources points.
-More ground units (tanks!)
-Other goodies!

  World Tools v1.7 released Addon release    
shezan74 released a new version v1.7 of his World Tools.

What's new on release 1.7

- Bug fixed: Remapping tool doubles the " character on output files
- Bug fixed: 8 bit indexed images used as mask for Forest Generator were not saved in project file
- Added: Now it's possible to generate and export a single color from world tools forest generator.
- Added: User defined templates are now exportable and re-importable into different projects. It's possible to create a user library for each terrain type.
- Improved: Forest generation placement precision has been reworked to ensure more precision on coastal areas
- Added: sqm file import/export to Visitor 3 is now able to deal with relative heights over the ground. This option requires a checkbox selection and the usage of a CUSTOM IMPORT OBJECTS SCRIPT that must be placed into Visitor3\scripts folder. File is available from the import/export form.
- Added: World tools checks for newer versions on startup

  ArmA2 Dedicated Server Tool Addon release    
Tophe of Östgöta Ops released a new beta version v1.1b of his ArmA2 Dedicated Server Tool.

The Armed Assault series allows an amazing array of settings to freely customize dedicated servers.
This means you will have to edit quite a few config files to get it running the way you like.

TA2DST is a tool that will greatly simplify this. All you need to do is to choose the settings you like.
Then the application will create all necessary files according to your settings and start the server with the appropriate arguments.

All necessary files will be created in a folder called 'TA2DST'.
You can save different profiles to easily switch between server setups.

In the folder TA2DST a new folder for each profile will be created. This folder contains all files associated to the profile.
Here you will find a file named '.TA2DST'. This contains all your settings for that profile.

You can share your TA2DST settings with the community with this single file.

INSTALLATION=============
Copy the file 'TA2DST.exe' to your ArmA2 game folder.

* Note that it's important that the file is in the game root folder, i.e. C:\Program files\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2\

* If you are upgrading from an earlier version of TA2DST you might need to delete your old TA2DST folder so the program may create new settings files.

* You also need to have .NET installed.

  ShackTac Movement addons Addon release    
Dslyecxi informed the community on the BI Forums that Rg released the ShackTac Movement addons for ArmA 2.

If you've ever hung up in a doorway, on a tree, or generally found yourself falling all over yourself in close-quarters movement, you're going to get a kick out of this. "ST Movement" is a set of two tiny addons that bring a welcome change to your ArmA2 movement model.

The first, st_collision, is based on an addon concept by Rocko and Kju from the ArmA1 days, redone in ArmA2 by Rg. This addon causes your weapon collision with the environment to be significantly toned down, meaning that you can now move sideways through doorways and generally find CQB to be enjoyable, versus feel like a rusted robot trying to navigate a terrifying alien world called 'indoors'. Try it out and see, it's simple and very noticeable.

The second may or may not be a big deal, depending on how you move around in ArmA2. There is a combination of keys in A2 that, for reasons unknown, triggers you into a several-second-long evasive-sideways animation. Personally, this used to get me in trouble (or killed) frequently. The st_evasive addon simply removes this animation from the player's movement system, preventing any key combination from accidentally triggering it.

  Steel Garden SP Mission (OA) Mission release    

Rejenorst released a new version v0.7 of his Steel Garden SP Mission for OA on the BI Forums.

A very brief and very simple mission that I made to test out some minor scripts. It was the first one I made for ARMA2 OA. I wanted to make a mission for U.S. forces for a change.

Just a note, the ending is somewhat incomplete, you get 60 seconds to walk around base and take a gander at it until a very very basic camera angle of the friendly body count wisks you away.

The intensity varies as does your squad's waypoint for the two villages. Your squad may head to Jaza or Loy Manara first before supporting the other squad in the other village if there are still enemies there.

There are around 100 units on map. Friendly reinforcements are present but limited, while enemy numbers are fixed.

Friendly squads are inserted via Chinook. The mission is inspired by the first Arma2OA campaign mission. There's no Intro or outro at this point and I am uncertain if I will make this mission longer or not, guess it will depend on demand and time. For now its a small but fun mission.
There is some voice acting in the mission but not as much as The Cause / The Cause 2 missions. Enjoy.

  Invasion 1944: Map Fix coming soon! Screenshots    
Jojimbo from the Invasion 1944 Mod informed the community that a fix for their Map is coming very soon.

Features/Fixes:

- Map restored fully
- Brand new hedgerow,
- Shining hedges fixed,
- Super load time, 4 seconds to load the map in the editor (was 1 minute+)
- Clutter dispersed correctly, (you can lay prone in green grass and still see to shoot)
- New lighting on some addons, ie wheat.
