  PAADecompressor v1.1 released Editing
T_D just released on the BI Forums a new version v1.1 of his PAADecompressor tool.

Version 1.1 released that fixes crashes on certain textures.

This little tool is for people that can't or dont want to use PAA Plugin for Photoshop by Kegetys
to view and edit A2 textures. It decompresses A2 textures back to the A1 format. This way you can easily use TexView2 for the textures.

  Update : Seize zones Kamenyy (SP) by stiff Mission release
stiff has released a Seize zones Kamenyy (Single Player) Mission on the BI Forums. ArmA2 patch Arma2 1.02 (build 58134) needed.

ABOUT THIS MISSION
There is no scenario in this mission.
It is a purpose though it enjoys the combat generated at random.
Please know some principles to win.

TWO PRINCIPLES
1) If the number of construction of bunkers is little, the enemy's raid is also few.
2) The defense of the bunker where the construction position is far from the base is difficult.

About one
-Please make the construction of the bunker a minimum if it is Low-end PC.
-Please construct a lot of bunkers if you want the fierce battle.
*If the number of constructed bunkers is little, the number of buildings that the enemy seizes is also little.

About two
-The encounter with the enemy increases when the travel time to the bunker is long.
-The probability that the bunker is seized by the enemy increases.

This is an alpha version. some functions do not work, but can play.

Edit July 6th,2009
Mission update.
The problem that occurred in the alpha version was solved.
-Medic is included in the reinforcement corps.
-First aid is effective for only a player team.
-There is ghost(nothing) outpost.

  ArmA2 Soundmod by Sgt.Elias Addon release
Sgt.Elias has informed us about the release of his ArmA2 Soundmod.

Hi all,
here's the Beta of my first Addon (soundmod) for Arma2.
With this soundmod I took care about the surrounding sounds.

Vehicles and weapons (except some few exclusions) carry mainly BIS original sounds.

Here a little excerpt from the changelog I created:
- new impact sounds from calibre 20 mm on.
- new impact sounds for GBU, FAB, rockets, missiles ...
- partly new reloading sound for all weapons.
- casingdropsound for all big weapons.
- completely new and working sounds for pumpgun.
- new sound for sniper rifle.
- partly new entry and exit sounds.
- new earth, water and damage sounds for aircrafts.
- now tanks have additional squeaking sounds for the chains.
- airplanes and helicopter now have RC sound inside.
- different RC sounds for Russian and US aircrafts.
- open helicopter and transportation airplanes now have wind and twisting noises on loading areas.
- new wind sounds.
- new city sounds. At night there is cats' jowling, environment and house noises in the cities.
- seaside now has additional sounds like foghorn and watersplash.
- neue thunder sounds.
...
the complete list is on download.

the addon is not fully tested currently and needs some finetuning.
And I still don't possess a server key.

  SP Mission: Morning Assault Addon release
critanda released his first singleplayer mission named Morning Assault v1.0 on the BI Forums.

So I have been playing around with the editor for some days (completly new to it), and finally got my first SP mission done. It's pretty simple not much scripting or advanced stuff like that. It's more focused on just combat. I spent alot of the time trying to balance it so it would be fun to play, so I hope I accomplished something decent! Feedback for future projects would be much appriciated

  RCIR - UN Peacekeepers reskins V1.01 Addon release
sander informed us all on the BI Forums that he has released v1.01 of his RCIR - UN Peacekeepers .

Hi,

To familiarise myself with the Arma2 I have created a simple reskin addon that adds United Nations peacekeepers to the game. These are intended as a generic representation of blue helmets rather than portraying the forces of any nation in particular.

The units can be found in the editor on side Independent (with a single unit available on side Civilian) as part of the faction RCIR - UN.

There is a little visual bug with the earpiece and microphone of the squad leader model: due to a texture mapping error on the original part of this equipment shows the helmet cover texture. This cannot be corrected without the tools.

  Devastation: mission pack by Dr_Eyeball test release Mission release

Dr_Eyeball has released teasing infos and WIP screenshots about his upcoming Devastation: mission pack on the BI Forums.

Introduction:
I'm constantly reading about how players want more complex Team vs Team missions and are even asking for the Project Reality mod concept and there are not enough people doing full featured TvT missions which are suitable for public servers, so this game mode (AAS and sub-components combined) has been designed and created to incorporate the fundamental concepts of Project Reality along with many improvements and extra features to create a unique game mode experience for Arma 2.

Game mode description:
The Devastation/AAS v2 is a competitive team versus team MP game mode suitable for public servers. It uses the basis of Sector Control with the added extensions of grouped zones, linked sectors and sequenced capture order to provide a battlefront concept which still works well for fewer players (20-50). It does not work well for too few players (eg: 6v6).

AAS Core Engine:
The Devastation game mode is built on top of the AAS v2 Engine, which was developed by ArMoGaDoN (aka: [WWS]WarWolf). The AAS2 Engine essentially controls the objectives for the mission. Devastation only uses less than half of the engine's full capabilities, which we'll hopefully rectify in future. Other 3rd party scripts are listed in the readme file. The Arma 2 version was ported over from ArmA.

Edit July 4th 2009 Devastation beta v0.1 released :
This is a alpha/beta test/preview version release only. (Probably should have delayed this another week, but anyway.)
It is not suitable for general public server use. Only for testers and dev's.
Primary purpose is to start identifying any obvious MP issues when there are 2 or more players. Monitor the RPT log.
Looks like there is still at least a week's worth of tweaking required to get the base running smooth.

Sound:
If anyone knows how to get the sound files to play using 'say' command (as they worked in Arma 1), could you let us know. I had no luck. No sound came through. See ICE\spot\SpotMarker.sqf line 43 for example.

Minimum players:
None of the Devastation missions will be suitable for small scale MP play (eg: 5vs5 is unsuitable).
The absolute minimum players required for this game mode to work effectively is about 20 players (10v10) with a recommended average of about 32-40.

  Mapfact Reduced Voices Addon v1.01 Addon release
BadAss from Mapfact.net informed the community with the news that they have released their Reduced Voices Addon v1.01 by Lester on the BI Forums.

This Addon reduces the acustic communication ingame significantly so that not every lapidary report worries the player.
A spoken "unknown unknown position one-three-one-four-eight-two" will be gone but the text messages remain so you don't miss any information!

It didn't touch the atmospheric accustic comments. Some rather rare and special units and vehicles are still there, too, but you have to read the message to learn about the context, though.

The specials are:
* Launcher Soldier
* Sniper
* Officer
* MobileHQ
* Static Mortar
* Static Canon
* UAV

Because there are three spoken languages in ArmA 2 this addon comes in three PBOs of which every single one reduces the respective spoken communication. Using all 3 PBOs results in a total reduction of all three language's voices output.
