Our hard working Old Bear has released his newest Tropica Island on our forums. The next nice looking island after his Brik map.
I am proud to release today the map I have been working on for months now : Tropica v 0.1 beta Tropica is a medium size island, 17 km x 13 km, located in the Mozambique channel, East of the Africa coast. Most of the island is covered with dry savana, but in two large basins, some mangroves and tropical forests are to be found along coastal river beds more or less flooded by brackish water as the fresh water left by huge seasonal rain-pours evaporated.

The underground of Tropica is known to be rich in natural resources, from diamonds to gas and oil. This island having been discovered by Portuguese sailors, then Spanish kingdom has conquered it, to be ousted by Great Britain and France. The agreement between these last ones leading to France remaining the last owner is unclear. In the 70' during the decolonization era, North Tropica was ruled by a short lived Democratic People Republic of Tropica with a lot of help from Soviet Union, the only visible remain of that era is the long concrete runway built near Banga as an emergency landing site for Buran soviet shuttle. The French are still holding an air base : BA96, on ile du Corsaire. The population of Tropica is a mix of peoples from different African area as well as natives and Europeans. The local government formally elected a 99% is in fact held by CEMTEX and TNT, two major companies looking after Tropica underground resources. They are more or less blatantly fighting to gain control of all the riches using private militias to do so.
Towns and villages: * 2 main towns : Tropicaville and Banga * 5 towns : Palmera, Toba and Bangataba, Ghaho and Djoba * many hamlets along the few dirt tracks * a dozen of huts villages in Gha and Djo basins.

Big Dawg KS has released an updated version 1.4 of his BD MultiGunFix addon on the BI Forums. It requires the CBA's Extended Eventhandlers.
This version should make the addon fully MP compatable. It only needs to be installed on the server to work for all clients, and must be installed on the server/host for it to work for any clients. In addition, I improved some of the scripts.

Sick1 has released the newest version 1.6 of his great SEAL Team Six 4 campaign on the BI-Forums. Also available as ACE version 1.6.
After hundreds of hours of working on this campaign, I'm finally satisfied enough to release it. This is the best work I've ever put into a campaign and you will see that there is nothing that compares to it. Seal Team six 4 is truly epic! I hope you guys enjoy it and don't forget to leave me some feedback. Good hunting six!

The war lasted a few weeks mainly with the involvement of US forces and a little have been know about the participation of other NATO countries such as UK, France Germany Italy and other countries that had some economical ties with the tiny but rich archipelago.
1 – Operation Raptor: During the first escalating phase of the conflict the coalition US/RACS is losing control of most part of the kingdom territory due to the sudden SLA massive armoured strike, several Italian and euro tourists and businnesmen are confined in the Belle Foile Hotel in Chantico awaiting for any external help, the San Marco Rgt marines onboard the DDG-Mimbelli are called for those civilians extraction, the mission will not be easy… 2 – Air Assault: After that the kingdom capital Paraiso have been saved by US reinforcing troops, a tiny Italian contingent made mainly by special forces and “second circle†elite troops join the coalition with the purpose to solve quickly the situation. A platoon of paracommandos are dropped by a C-27J behind the SLA lines with the purpose to make as much troubles and noise as possible, while the US and RACS main offensive is on another side of the island. 3 – Team Anglico: after the success of the first mission Italian troops are sent again into the struggle, this time with the San Marco marines Rgt Anglico Team, their mission will be will securing a Landing zone for USMC choppers as well as conducting air and naval strikes during a main coalition offensive in the area west of Corazol.
For this mini mission pack it’s necessary Pedagne Mod full pack with hotfixes, CAA1 project full, HSO_SLA for ArmA2, ArmA2 v.10.5

Zipper5 has released an Anti-tank Launcher vs. Infantry Fix addon on the BI-Forums.
The AI since ArmA has always been inclined to use their rocket launchers at range rather than their rifles. Many fixes for this were made for ArmA, but none have been made, to my knowledge, for Arma 2. Therefore, I decided to make this simple addon. I saw a lot of people harping on about it in the OA thread, so hopefully this can put the whining to rest.
Sick1 has released the Gold Edition of his first 3 Seal Team Six campaigns on the BI-Forums. The Edition contains besides the scenarios also new features and bug fixes. I recently updated all of the campaigns and added some cool new features.

Live the latest developments on the difficult situation in the Strait of Hormuz: After the shot down of the Predator UAV by the Iranian air force, and new sanctions voted by the UN Security Council, the situation in the strait and in particular around the archipelago of Quesh Kibrul is getting more and more of hourly hot. Indeed it seems that the unmanned vehicle has fallen within the territorial waters of Quesh Kibrul; from this fact the U.S. has sought and obtained a resolution voting and condemning Iran, the Iranian president responded with a belligerent speech against Western countries, and with the blockade of Quesh Kibrul. From a few hours more Iranian warships were added to the fleet that was taking part in maneuvers in the Strait, blocking the transport by sea to and from Quesh Kibrul. CimaleX has send us his third ASZ Mission Pack for Pedagne Mod units involved in the Sahrani conflict of 2007. The pack contains 3 sp missions.
The conflict is going better on US/RACS side as some reinforcements came from the USMC expeditionary force and USAF units as well as some tiny contingents from NATO countries (Italy, UK, France, Germany etc...) that joins the US/RACS coalition.

1 - Corazol Raid: A unit of the IXth Rgt Col. Moschin of the italian army (SF Paracommandos) lead the Coalition strike against the well defended city of Corazol; who takes this strategically important town of the Sahrani Kingdom have an open door to the North Republic.
2 - GOI Raid Operation Eagle's nest: The GOI (Gruppo Operativo Incursori) are the heirs of the Italian Navy WWII raiders, specialised in naval sabotage and other special operations, are the best SpecOp unit of italian armed forces. Recently SLA Air Corps have received a couple of russian built Su-30, these fighters are based on the SLA airstrip of Pita, and must be destroyed before they become a nightmare for our naval pilots, equipped with AV-8B light attack aircraft. The saboteurs unit will come from the sea at night, and will be lead by GOI elements together with their cousins, the US Navy SEALS.
3 - Alcazar Strike: The coalition with the welcome help of some NATO elite units have broken through the SLA frontline and are going to seize the capital Bagango. Aware that they are losing the war, SLA High ranks are organising a non conventional war after the defeat on the battlefield, the militia have been mobilized and SLA elite troops are preparing weapons caches and strongholds in the densly forest mountainous area north of Bagango. A mountain paratrooper squad of the Mte Cervino Rgt (Mountain Paratroopers - Ranger unit of the Italian army Mountain Bde) will be ferried on the mountains by an AB-412, with the task of seek and destroy SLA militia and Escapas weapons caches and strongholds, before it's too late and the Iraq nightmare becomes a realilty in Sahrani.

ArmaFPSAnalyser is a tool that can show you the performance of your game based on some specially-instrumented mission files. In addition, the scripts are available to allow you to create your own benchmark missions. The screenshot below gives you an idea of the kind of information the tool provides - in this example performance across three different kinds of location (city, coast and forest) is being compared. (In this case you can see quite clearly that performance of the 1.05 patch is poorer in city locations than elsewhere.)
