Breaking news from the Karzeghistan-Takistan border Screenshots
CimaleX has send us Breaking news from the Karzeghistan-Takistan border.

AAN reporters are sending disturbing news from the new hot spot of the Green Sea area:
After the Takistani regime lauched a Scud missile not far from the Chernarus national waters a few weeks ago, the situation is turning more and more troubled.
The Takistani army and the republican militia have been mobilized, troops are moving in forces towards the oil rich border region of Sharig in Karzeghistan, this region have been claimed by the Takistani government after the attacks of April 12 2012, where the monarchic tribes attempted a coup against the socialist regime.
NATO and the US are silently moving troops in the area, for the first time (see photo)

soldiers from the Czeck army have been photographed in the border deserted area with light weapons to help the Karzeghistan guards patrolling the volatile border with Takistan.
Neverthless after a meeting at the United Nations two days ago, Chernarus have offered sending its peackeeping units to the Sharig plateau tribal area, the region recently claimed by the takistani officers.
(In the photo the first UN-CDF column is patrolling a tribal border village in Sharig - Karzeghistan)

While US forces moves in the area are not made public by the US administration.

Latest developments on the Quesh-Kibrul Iranian crisis Screenshots
CimaleX has informed us about new developments from the Quesh-Kibrul Iranian crisis.

Breaking news from the Strait of Hormuz :
Again the tension rises in the already troubled archipelago of Quesh-Kibrul, the islands that are in the cross-hair of aggressive Iranian military exercises during recent days; a few hours ago, while Arabian league leaders where at a meeting in Dubai, an Iranian navy Mi-8 crashed over the north east side of the main island, killing all four on board.
According to the Iranian navy spokesman the helicopter got lost during a night flight and crashed over a hill after mechanical failure, but the QKDF (Quesh Kibrul Defence Forces) chief of staff have declared that the chopper have been shot down during daylight by an Avenger AAA unit after it had repeatedly violated the Emirate airspace, and was performing aggressive manoeuvres over QKDF sensible installations.

In the picture the wrecked Mi-8 chopper surrounded by QKDF and US personnel.

In Dubai the Arabian league leaders have made an attempt to solve peacefully the tense situation around the Quesh-Kibrul archipelago, but the president of Iran said at press conference that will be no compromise with the US and their allies, and the Quesh-Kibrul Emirate might send out all foreign troops that are mining peace and stability in the region of the Middle East.
Meanwhile the naval blockade of the islands continues despite Iranian claims that the measure is temporarily, and only for exercise and safety purposes; today a couple of Japanese oil tankers trying to get out the Strait of Hormuz have been intercepted by Iranian corvettes inside international waters and forced to get back.

In the picture: President of Iran surrounded by staff members and bodyguards at the Arabian League meeting yesterday in Dubai.

The US secretary of state appointed that Iranian claims and aggressive behaviour against the tiny Emirate have only the aim of "showing the force" to other Persian Gulf neighbours and try to mitigate the recently applied UN sanctions against the Iranian republic for its efforts in developing nuclear weapons.
US-Centcom high ranks declared that even outnumbered, US and Coalition forces in the islands could easily manage an Iranian attempt of invasion, relying on superior intelligence and technology, but one wonders how, with only a handful of MQ-9 Reapers and no more than 6 - 8 UH-60 and AH-6 choppers, and a single reinforced infantry battalion on strength.

Hormuz crisis minicampaign: Breaking news from Quesh-Kibrul Screenshots
CimaleX has send us the newest infos about the upcoming Hormuz crisis minicampaign.

News submitted by CimaleX.

Live the latest developments on the difficult situation in the Strait of Hormuz:
After the shot down of the Predator UAV by the Iranian air force, and new sanctions voted by the UN Security Council, the situation in the strait and in particular around the archipelago of Quesh Kibrul is getting more and more of hourly hot.
Indeed it seems that the unmanned vehicle has fallen within the territorial waters of Quesh Kibrul; from this fact the U.S. has sought and obtained a resolution voting and condemning Iran, the Iranian president responded with a belligerent speech against Western countries, and with the blockade of Quesh Kibrul.
From a few hours more Iranian warships were added to the fleet that was taking part in maneuvers in the Strait, blocking the transport by sea to and from Quesh Kibrul.
Photo: A moment of the Iranian exercise.

In response, U.S., Australia and three NATO countries (UK, France and Italy) have sent small contingents of reinforcement, the U.S. is considering sending in the coming days 101st Airborne Division elements - 2nd Brigade Combat Team - 1st Battalion, 502nd Infantry Regiment (First Strike) and the 159th Combat Aviation Brigade (Thunder Eagle) in addition to the few UH-60 and AH-6 already in the island.
Photo: U.S. and NATO troops landing at Quesh-Kibrul Amiri Intl Airport.

Yesterday Quesh Kibrul Al Amiri Defence Forces opened fire without causing damage (with Avenger anti-aircraft unit) against a C-130E of the IRIAF, after it had repeatedly violated the airspace of the tiny emirate.

Jungle Wars: Island of Lingor Screenshots
IceBreakr informed the Community about his upcoming 4th island project for Arma 2. Its the fictional island of Lingor.

Inspiration
Inspiration for the project is that I've been waiting for years for a proper optimised jungle map.
You have to understand that vegetation full map is a whole different matter in BIS engine. PCs that were able to run Duala/Jade Groove on max settings & view distance 5000m+ will probably only have sufficient FPS with 1000-1500m distance on Lingor. That concerns mostly the pilots (jets/mid-alt choppers). Grunts will have to cope with limited visibility so that won't affect them. Flying with UH-1 just above tree tops is also fps sufficient. ArmA2 engine doesn't handle well thick forests in areas bigger than 1km. So I will try to break up large view-distances with couple of hills.

More Infos about Island of Lingor:

Second inspiration comes from three different things. First is the board game by Stefan Dorra named Amazonas, that I just love. Board game features a nice amazon river and many villages to occupy. Hopefully Lingor scenery will be a bit similiar with the river setting.

Features/Description
Heartpoint of island is a big town on East. It will feature an army base and a large airport for all kinds of operations. Town is surrounded by jungle on W and South. Road then leads throught it to SW. Its the only paved road that connects the whole island. Amazon-like river splits the somewhat urban part on North and totally rural on South.

Rivers banks won't be steep (as in many of my older maps) and mangrove vegetation will cover the most banks. Only few places will be suitable for ship landing.

Jungles will have foot-path trails and couple of farms will be situated under thick canopy trees. Not all of the jungle will be thick, so pilots will be able to touch down on many clearings and drop off/pickup troops.

There will be no bridges (due to AI bugs) only couple of shallow passings.

Tourists enjoy the stay in main town as couple of nice beaches can be found. But the major touristic point are the towns on NW. There are even couple of lakes. Many hiking trips are available, but only few guides are eager to lead tourist south of the big river.

Sides

Government army controls the main town and is patrolling the Northern part where many ambushes by rebel happen. Southern part is a hiding place for many escaped convicts, drug dealers and rebel faction that is fighting for the control of the island. International peace-keeping team is based in armybase in main town and performs regular anti-rebel raids and patrol operations. It is also well known fact that US and UK and some other European armies train their specops in the highly-humid and mosquito-infested forests of Lingor.
When rebel positions are raided in the jungle they often retreat to the unreachable places in mountains-area on SW part of Lingor. Units are already done.

Help needed
I would need couple of addons for the project:
- new wooden boats with engines
- dangerous animals addon (CSJ Snakes if a fine example, hopefully he'll agree to include it in Lingor)
- new house or two for the bigger towns

Hopefully you will start to love Lingor when you get relieved of Arrowhead desert tour of duty

Thanks to Jeza from our Game Server Team for the Info! ;-)

Iranian connection mini campaign for ACE2 and Iranian Mod Screenshots
CimaleX informed us on new events from the Iranian connection mini campaign.

Further disturbing news coming from the island of Quesh-Kibrul, Strait of Hormuz, the Persian Gulf.
The Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF) said they had shot down an unmanned MQ-9 Predator within its airspace.
Yesterday during naval maneuvers in the Strait of Hormuz, an Iranian F-14 fighters took off from the IRIAF base of Bandar Abbas to intercept an intruder penetrated into Iranian airspace, at about 14:15 the aircraft, a Predator UAV was shot down within Iranian territorial waters.
It was shown a picture of the moment of interception of the unmanned aircraft from the IRIAF F-14 cockpit.

Again there was no statement from the Pentagon, but unofficial sources believe that in fact the unmanned aircraft was flying over international waters during a US monitoring mission of the Iranian naval maneuvers.
In the second picture the F-14 crew pose in front of their fighter.

Meanwhile the Iranian exercise called "Al-Faw 2010" continues with the addition of a further frigate and two Kilo class submarines.
Both the Pentagon and NATO for the moment do not seem willing to increase their military presence on the island.
