ArMaTeC has released a "spawning" script for the LHD (Aircraft Carrier) and released it on the BI Forums.
I created this simple script that you can now create the Aircraft Carrier any where on the map and on any island Example mission and script
Myke has released an addon version of the script and released it on the Armaholic web site.
Excellent script, armatech. I've created an Editoraddon out of it which adds the LHD in the Editor under WEST/USMC/SHIPS/LHD and also under EMPTY of course.
It uses 100% of armatech's script so full credit to you mate. I've just packed a config and Editor Icon with it. Also added 2 lines to the script to make sure it runs server-side only.
I have made a new thread for the ONS mod as the full release will be for ArmA 2 and the demo of the mod for ArmA 1. Pictures to follow shortly thank you for following the mod through all the ups and downs we are still going strong.
The famous addonmaker Kegetys informed us on the BI Forums that he released today a new update of his tool wich is a paa photoshop plugin to handle the ArmA 2 compressed paa textures on his site.
I updated my paa photoshop plugin to handle the ArmA 2 compressed paa textures. (Opening only, the game can read the "old" noncompressed paa's as well). Get it from my site. There's an updated cpbo as well with an optional simple GUI for extracting PBOs.
Updates in 6.6.2009 release:
- cpbo now has an optional GUI for selecting files to extract: right click a PBO and select 'Extract PBO...' to show the dialog. (run the cpbo.exe first to create the registry association) - PAAplug support for loading ArmA 2 LZO compressed PAA files - PAAPlug fix for FLAG tag saving (mipmap filtering)
TonyRanger informed us that VME's PLA MOD is back! and have published several pictures of their PLA Type 95 Assault Rifle and WZ-10 Gunship on the BI Forums
Hi my friend!
Remember the VME PLA MOD in OFP times? Yes, we are come back! www.chinavme.com VME PLA MOD for ARMA2
As we, at Armed Assault.info can't attend to the ArmA 2 Press Event in London we will try to give you a glimpse at what happened, was shown and said on this event.
First of all, have a look at Questions and Answers on Twitter@ ArmA2PC. There are many questions and answers, here is just an example of what you can read :
Can you confirm the presence of the "helicopter carrier"? Is this a "static vehicle" or it moves, uses some "weapons" for support ? It's a static vehicle Will there be different reload animations for each weapons or are they all the same like in ArmA1? There are a number of different reload animations for different weapons including anims for mounted weapons being reloaded How is suppressive fire implemented? Does the AI use it against you? AI use supressive fire against you and other AI. It effects things like aim (weapon sway etc). Is the reviving & healing restricted to medics? Non medics can provide basic first aid and can also carry injured comrades from the battlefield to safty. Will there be a demo before release? We will hit GM next week, plan is to release demo before launch.
We jump into a mission scenario and I can instantly see the graphical improvements. The detail of every object is much higher compared to Arma 1 and the new hemispherical lighting system makes for a very real and enticing environment.
Anyone watching cannot help but become instantly immersed in the vast landscape and then wonder at the infinite possibilities available before us with the mission editor alone.
But before I get carried away with my own imagination, lets see what Bohemia Interactive have come up with to entertain us.
So we have arrived in Chernarus as marines to provide a peacekeeping force amongst the civil unrest with multiple factions fighting for power and territory. The campaign begins on an aircraft carrier just off shore of Chernarus. As a member of Razor team, a rapid reaction forces team we are deployed to take control of the situation.
This is where I can see the appeal of the campaign is far greater than Arma 1, which had a linear approach with main and secondary target in phases one after the other. The campaign in Arma 2 is much more organic and has many variables that affect the outcome of your success and failure. You will have multiple options to choose from at each step of the way. How you collect information from local civilians and friendly faction members will be vital. All conversations and key information is stored in a handy diary log for you to refer to when planning your next move. The new dynamic conversation system with other people opens up a new dynamic of adventure. Upset them and they may be hostile towards you, be helpful and they will help you.
Dan from NewMediaMaze.com send us news about the launch of the ArmA 2 Twitter page.

There is no time to write anything now, but we have finally water in ARMA2 and yes, its not on sea level. Water can be placed anywhere in any height. Damn, there are more then 50 different ponds, lakes and dams :) And for the last, every water surface could be different. So take a look and taste, how autumn coming in to Chernarus.
PS: Yes, we know that there is grass in pond, we will finalize clutter mask tomorrow ;)
Here are the new update from the Chernarus pages on the ArmA 2 official web site, today the Inhabited areas.
Inhabited areas
The biggest city and the administrative center of the Chernarussian Northern Province is Chernogorsk. What was originally a small fisherman's village quickly grew into a city thanks to the intensive industrialization of the Chernarussian Autonomic Republic, which began in the 50's of the previous century. Chernogorsk has always been a harbor town, once connected to northern trade routes, now a place through which the raw materials flow to Elektrozavodsk.
By the decision of the Soviet Union's government, not only Chernogorsk, but also other fairly undeveloped cities of the Northern Province were supposed to change to the symbol of industrial advancement. The price for urbanization and industrialization was the environmental damage of the coastal areas. The local village population was rooted out and forced to live an urban life, or moved to the northern Kolkhozs. This fact reflects not only in the fast-engineered infrastructure and generic apartment block style housing developments, but also in the architectural spirit of socialistic realism. The dominants of the cities then aren't the historical centers, but industrial zones, lime-kiln and the buildings of long abandoned factories.

The Chernarus page on the official ArmA2 web site has been updated with infos about Industrial areas
Industrial areas
For the fast growing industrial production in the second half of the 20th century, the electricity inflow conducted by land from the west was insufficient; also the basic infrastructure of gravel roads was inconvenient. Yearly floods, created from the melting snow were constantly threatening the coastal railroad, built for the purpose of transporting cargo from Chernogorsk to the industrial centers. This was the only secure connection during the long-lasting rains.
In the 70's it was decided to build a motorway infrastructure and also construct a number of waterworks, which would not only reduce the yearly floods, but also allow the generation of electricity from owned sources. The results of this effort are mainly the Pobeda Dam, a number of flood barriers on the main traffic artery leading from Chernogorsk along the coast to Berezin, and of course the great hydro-electric power plant near Elektrozavodsko.

Once again, facts about Chernarus have been posted on arma2.com, the official ArmA 2 web site, today, it's all about Nature.
Despite the industrialization and the devastation of the coast, the Northern Province is proud of its untouched wild nature and idyllic agriculture countryside. Mostly because of the highland character of the North East part of the country, this was unsuitable for either industrial production or for collective agriculture.
A large part of the northern area is covered by coniferous or mixed forests, known as the Black forests because of their depth and inviolateness. The unique moors on the table-side Dičina on the south of the Vybor is also worth mentioning. In the scientific view the area around the Blunt rocks is very precious: rock formations with the remains of a glacial lake from ice age times. The southern part of the Northern Province suffered through thoughtless construction, so that the original coastal fauna and flora can only be found sporadically, mostly aside the mainland. The best known such place is the SkalistĂ˝ Island, which during the start of the 90's was declared a nature preserve within the frame of the newly declared Zagorie Protected Natural Area.
