  ADF units WIP Screenshots    
Rico from the Australian ADF Mod has sent us several work in progress screenshots of their promising units. They include the troops (Auscam and Descam and different catagories), Landrover and Abrams. Troop skins are from VXR and Rico made retextures and configs. You can see more pictures by clicking on the comments.

These are BETA WIP shots taken while testing them, and dont represent the final quality of these addons.

  PROPER Mods updated ! Addon release

  Sharper recoils and real rates of fire released Addon release    
Q1184 released an intersting addon in the BI Forums. It changes the recoils, and rates of fire for various weapons, to more realistic values.

As many of you may have noticed BIS recoils are a bit weird. Apart from being slow (BIS recoil starts after the shot) there is also some strange movement of the gun after the recoil itself. It quickly moves down and then up again, probably trying to simulate rezeroing. What I did was 1)Start the recoil the moment the shot starts, 2)Get rid of the barrel dive (almost to zero) and 3) Make the overall recoil cycle shorter. I liked the result and decided to share the stuff with the community. I would appreciate any constructive feedback to further improve this little mod.

  ASP SF Units v1.0 released Addon release    
BilOlson released his ASP SF Units v1.0 in the BI Forums. This addon adds 4 new SF units to each of the three sides, Bluefor, Opfor, Racs using default BIS models and characters.

I put this together for my squad because we play Coop only, specifically Spec Ops type missions and needed a Medic, then there was a few other roles that needed to be filled so here they are. I used default models/textures so not to make addon large in size and can be used with default units. (.pbo is only 16 kb (config only))

  Czech section opened About our website    
We are happy to announce that we have opened a new Czech section on ArmedAssault.info! Blondak, Cedule, Rsa Viper, Rycfield and Zemrelka are in charge of keeping it updated but also posting Czech related news.



If you didn't notice it yet, we also have a French and a German section up to date and manually translated. By the way we are currently looking for serious Russian translators to run this section too, you can contact us in our forums.

  DMSmokeEffects updated Addon release    
DMarwick released an update of his ArmA Effects addon in the BI Forums. Version 4.3beta includes the following changes :

v4.3b changes
- Extended Init compatible. (Extended Init addon v1.1 required, and included, with this release. If you already have Extended Init eventhandler addons you can delete them from the @DMSmokeEffects Addons folder.)
- Smoke grenades have AI viewblock functionality. The viewbock reacts to wind direction & strength.
- A new player Action, Wind info, is added. This is useful for smoke grenade usage, as well as general realism & ballistics addons. On use it will give you the strength & direction of the wind at the time you requested it.
- Frag grenades tweaked slightly to be lighter in colour.
- Full viewblock functionality is enabled for this "b" release on most DMSmokeEffects smoke effects. During heavy battles this can drag the FPS right down, but I release this version to get general feedback and results.

  XAM 1.3:05 Released Addon release    


snake22000 has released his updated 1.3:05A EN XAM MOD, on the BI Forums.

This version is fully compatible with ArmA V1.08 .
"1.3:05B" will be compatible with 1.09.
This is a full version so, you have to uninstall your former versions of XAM.
In this version : reported bugs corrected, performances improved.

Special thanks to Naash for the XAM tactical guide traduction (available too, right now).

XAM 1.3:05A US CHANGELOG :

- Installation of the mines (leaping) less risky for the player.
- Icons editor of the mines (leaping, claymore and traditional) changed.
- The mines are not visible any more on ingame map.
- Corrections of the equipment to the respawn for some units.
- Lag caused by the explosions of vehicles slightly decreased.
- Correction of the error message related to the laser rangefinder in the cases of ammunition.
- The icon of the cases of ammunition XAM in the editor is now representative of the angle of this one in the play.
- Return of the normal external sight..
- Vulcan can from now on carry out a zoom in mode concerned.
- Correction of the bug which prevented the mines claymores from exploding in certain cases.

  UAV Predator - new screenshots! Screenshots    
EMSI presented some screenshots of the progress on the impressive UAV Predator project in our forums. The pictures showing the MQ-1 (M stands for multirole) with AGM-114 Hellfire rockets. These rockets are only placeholders and will be replaced with the BIS ones in the final version. On the last screenshot, you can see small improvments on a FLIR screen of the UAV Display.

  WP Insurgent released Addon release    
M4R1NE has released a WP Insurgents addon on the BI Forums. This addon comes in 2 versions, one with default weapons and an other with RHS Weapons. RHS weapons pack is needed for the last one.

Me and my friends were sick of waiting for insurgents to be released to the public, so we decided to make a insurgent pack ourselves. They are basic retextures of face and clothing. There are 10 different insurgents, and 9 different faces. Hope you enjoy!
Theres two versions, one uses the RHS weapons, and the other uses default. Choose only one of them to download. If you dont have RHS weapons and want them, download the Russian Federation units.

  RHS T-64 MBT released Addon release    
Shadow NX has released the RHS T-64 MBT Preview Pack V.0.9 by Kenji on the BI Forums.

This pack is a beta / preview version of Kenjis T-64MBT pack.
The pack features completely new detailled models, new textures, random numbers, normal and specular maps.
Also we use the freshly introduced Addon signing for the first time to prevent altering the addons to chect in MP.
In further versions more variants and interiours will be added.
Included in this pack are:
- T-64B ( 1975 variant )
- T-64BU ( SLA Version )
- Simple Demo mission by Kenji

  About ArmA II, Bohemia Interactive at INVEX Digitex General    

Bohemia Interactive is showing ArmA2 at INVEX Digitex, have a look at the program on Bohemia Interactive web site.

This year Bohemia Interactive will participate Game Life conference at Fairs of Information Technologies and Consumer Electronics INVEX - DIGITEX staged from 23 - 27 October 2007 at the Brno Exhibition Center.

Links to reviews had been post by Spook on the BI Forums, but ... they are all in Czech.

[CAVE]guerilla has posted a translation of about these coming from Saigon's & Binariz3 blog, vision.sfera-software.net page and dobryweblog.cz.

- you can command around 100 ai and send them to 1 target
- better shader for dynamic lightning (Shader 3.0)
- dynamic shadows, really real light
- shooting with every weapon out of vehicles (not sure here)
- better swimming, twice as much soldier movements (not sure)

than they talk alot about the advantages of DX10 and Shader 3.0 i guess, thinks like photorealistic texture, bump maping and how good it looks.

4 campaigns

- 1 linear (i guess they mean straight)
- 1 free (RPG?)
- 1 total free (take a side and go to war)
- 1 Multyplayer campaign (a dream comes true here)

Than somethink about importing the 3D VBS Editor and demolitation of houses with and without interior, they got 1 house working so far.
The nice view's on Chernarus, falling leaves in the forest, railway for trains with some trains but only for war feeling (not working).
The author says the he can see the better AI handling cover and comunication in towns and on the field.
About 10 GB files (several DVD disks) for ARMA 2
Converting for XBOX360 with autoaim till 12/2008.

and on the 3th interview i see following:

no dynamik destruction model like wished but somethink similar like shot a hole in a house and enter it, also possible for AI's. AI is gonna hide behind walls, pillows, trashcans, autos with surpressing fire and granates while flanking you somehow. animation for entering and leaving vehicles. numeric position in vehicles can be chosen by assigning ai to a vehicle like gunner instead of driver (without the menu 4 - 2 - 4), no animal (cow) hunting just a bunny because its possible to stream it in and let it disapear.

not only fight mission in the campaign, there are also missions like going to dring a beer after the shift, tee cooking with friends, going to search something for someone etc.

- the grass is fat and low for better view, just better
- fog looks more real
- shadows, i did't understand that, so far the same as ARMA 1
- better smoke fx
- better forest texture with fog on the ground etc.
- beautiful object reflection if "ODLESKY" means reflection, dunno
- Viewdistance stays the same as ARMA 1 as there isn't even a cpu to handle this.

  Iraq/Iran border Map updated Addon release    
Allie has released an updated version of his High Detail Texture Project, a map based on Based on an Iraq/Iran border on the BI Forums. Allie informed us it's not the final release.

* This island is based on a real world location on the Iraq Iran border. I Picked this location specific because of the empty desert, people have enough space to make there own little settlements and camps.The airport is fictional, it does not exists in real life. Again i'm sorry to say but this is not the final release, it still have a lot of bugs and things in it that needs to be changed.

Things that still need attention:
*Coloring of close up textures
*Better and more vegetations
*More better placed objects
*Roads, bugs on looks, bugs in sounds and dust
*Airport pavement, bugs in sound, roughness and dust

  LOST BROTHERS IDF PARATROOPER BETA released Addon release    
Miles Teg from the Lost Brothers Mod released a beta version of the IDF Paratroopers with Tavor rifle in the BI Forums.

Finally, with hard work from several of our mod team members (Jewish Freak, [IDF]Hayal, Diversant, SFC ITZHAK) and with assistance and work from Synide, DSA, and others, we are proud to release our first Armed Assault addon.

If I am not mistaken, I believe this is the FIRST custom infantry model in ArmA. I am only aware of one other customized civilian model. If I am wrong, someone please correct me and send me a URL to any other custom infantry models that have been released. We HAD to customize our model simply because first we are tired of retextures and second because the body armor and helmets that the IDF use are very different then what BIS uses on their models.

This is a BETA so YES there are bugs. That is why it is called a BETA. So please don't be rude with criticisms. We invite feedback but please don't be a-holes about it. Also before you all complain, YES, their boots in real life are red. Those ugly boots are symbols of pride for all Israeli paratroopers. So complain to the IDF not to us. lol I may try to make them a little bit more dusty in a later update so that they don't stand out so badly. Also our next units will not have red boots.
Some of you may also complain about the fact, that in real life, the paratroopers haven't been issued the Tavors yet. However within a few years they likely will get them. So these are basically future units. The one unit with a M4/m203 combo will be replaced with a Tavor/M203 unit. Likewise the M249 SAW gunner, will have his LMG replaced with a Negev LMG in future updates.

Other bugs/issues- No blood textures. No shadow for Tavors. These things will be fixed later and we will also slowly be adding new weapons and new unit types. These units basically serve as a base model that we will develop over time. Yes I know they are not RHS quality, but rather then complain, if you are a texture artist, we welcome ANY help doing textures as well as any addon modellers that want to join us.
