ArmA II UNSUNG R1 Alpha released ! Addon release

cj525 has informed us about the release of the long awaited ArmA II UNSUNG R1 Alpha Mod.

Well it's been a long road, for our team. But we are glad to release this intro to our vietnam mod.
This is basically the foundation to our mod that we are quickly building on. It is an Aplha release, there are known issues that we are debugging but if we waited for all the issues to be dealt with Arma III will be already out.

THe island is a fictional area based on CSJ's Arma I lowlands. Everyone in the mod team worked as hard as Real Life would let them on this and previous unsung mods (OFP/ARMA I).

There are three SP missions that come with this release, we will be releasing more including various MP missions in the weeks to come, but we decided we didn't want to wait any longer. Plus I know the community will be making there own missions and we look forward to trying them out.

So from the UNSUNG MOD Team.

Good luck out there, you'll need it.

Note : The previously released Unsung Mod Handbook will be useful !

ASR AI Rearming v0.92 by Robalo_AS Addon release
Robalo_AS has released on the BI Forums , asr AIrearming v0.92 beta, an updated version of the VFAI_Equipment VictorFarbau has previously released as public domain.

AI_Equipment enables units to independently equip themselves with weapons and ammo from dead bodys. Further information and details included in the readme file. I advise you to read the readme file - it might explain some behaviour you wonder about.

AIrearming v0.92 beta

- More optimisations
- Ammo that goes into primary or secondary slots is handled separately. This means AI with a rifle GL will also grab GL ammo when found.
- When looking for a weapon because the current one is empty, don't pick up same weapon

ACE: To Stable or not to Stable? General

From Sickboy on the ACE blog.

In response to the question, what edition of ACE Mod ACE Team recommends to use: ACE Stable or Ongoing Development, we have the following to say:
We surely recommend the Ongoing Development over the Stable releases for a few reasons:
* Contains latest fixes
* Contains latest features
* Improves the Mod's development cycle and raises the quality - due to a much more vibrant eco-system; request/report vs response (fixes/additions); We simply can gain feedback and reports sooner, as well as react quickly on them.
Additionally, the ongoing development gets hotfixed asap, incase of immediate/serious issues, which I believe hasn't been too disruptive since moving to the weekly schedule.
Although our team perhaps would prefer even daily builds, the weekly schedule seems to keep us on our toes enough :).
Also, in general we schedule large sized updates at or before the Stable releases.
With the recent switch to OA, incl restructuring of the mod, this has perhaps happened more frequent.

On a side note, we do have basic internal testing (partially automated) but feel that the complexity and size simply means wide-spread testing is almost a necessity and certainly more useful.

With the monthly stable releases, reports/feedback is easily dated, and development stagnates due to having to wait weeks, perhaps a month, until new feedback/reports about current changes.

You might wonder why we provide the Stable releases then It basically comes down to popular demand, and the server hosts which do not allow 'beta' software (or mods) to be used.
Besides providing a casual means of distribution (7z's hosted on websites).

Lastly I would like to add that the Mod's quality largely depends on the active reporting of bugs and feedback on our tracker; Bug Reporting - we can only welcome more .

ACE L-39ZA Armament Expansion and Russian Version Screenshots
Sickboy has informed us about ACE L-39ZA WIP from the ACE blog.

The latest ongoing development update features the Russian version of the trainer jet L-39ZA with combat capabilities. It comes in the classic green-sand colors with Russian decals and two different armaments.

Additional to the present payload version of the Takistan faction with 4 UB-16 Pods containing 64 rockets of 57mm caliber and the planes dual 23mm cannon, a bomber version with 4 FAB-250 M-54 bombs will be in service to provide more firepower.
This makes the L-39ZA the perfect Close Air Support plane for the terrain size of Takistan.

World Tools 1.6.1 by shezan74 Editing
Shezan74 has released an updated World Tools 1.6.1 on the BI Forums.

What's new on Relase 1.6.1

- World tools now is able to connect to Sickboy's Six Config Browser hosted on Dev Heaven to automatically retrieve object definitions while converting SQM/SQF-BIEDI files into Visitor 3 importable format.

This will greatly improve the program capability to produce a ready-to-import file that could be loaded and hardened into islands by island developers, using ArmA2 mission editor object placement.

Credits goes to Sickboy for his great support.

This screenshot is the result of a FOB import from SQM file into my Fallujah map. The FOB has been made by a clanmate using only the ArmA2 mission editor.
