  RKSL Advent Calendar day 3 General
As promised RockofSL from the RKSL Studios has announced, here is next day of his Advent Calendar 2008 with news about the Puma HC1.

"Big Cat Diary" - Puma HC1

After yesterday we thought you'd like to see something... well a bit less grey. So we're going to let one of our Big Cats out of the bag. The Puma HC1 comprises approximately 1/3 of the Royal Air Forces Helicopter lift capability. The type has been in service since 1971 but has always maintained its capability with a constant programme of avionics and engine updates. The 33 aircraft are currently split between 2 squadrons but are deployed around the world in various support and combat roles.
This is the 3rd incarnation of the model. I've managed to get all the detail I wanted into a lower poly count. The model was scaled and built up from an old 1/32 Airfix AS330L model kit paint sheet and then adapted to the RAF specs. Its current configuration, sensors and flare packs are as close to the latest spec that I can safely make without going overboard and making the model ridiculously "over polyed".

  Armed Assault Editing Guide Deluxe (German only) General
Mr-Murray, the Author of the official Armed Assault Editing Guide for
Armed Assault, has informed us about the release of the Deluxe Edition of this must have for every mission editor on Mapfact.net.
The guide which is so far in german only (However an english translation is in the works), consists of roughly 333 pages !
Our english speaking visitors can still download the english Special Edition from our article section while waiting for the Deluxe Edition. It should be noted, that this guide is an unofficial release although Mr-Murray has been massively supported by BIS.

The Deluxe edition contains, with it´s 11 Chapters and 230 Subitems, nearly any stuff which is needed to create professional designed missions. A great help to navigate through the whole book are the clearly designed indexes like main index, keyword- and Syntax index and also the single chapter indexes with the chapter marker on the right border of each page as well.

This new version contains all Patches up to Patch 1.15, Queens Gambit and of course Warfare as well. The english Version of the Deluxe Edition is still under construction, we are working on it with „high pressure“! So once both books have finally been released no further ones will follow for ArmA 1 and Mr-Murray is finally finishing his Bookworks for ArmA 1.

A great Thanks goes to Bohemia Interactive Studios for the massive support, the permission for using the Cover Artworks and 1.15 informations. A further thank you goes to the translator of the english Editing Guide – MemphisBelle – , his helping Hand Steevo and his Lectorship of the english Version Metal0130 (USA) and Matt Rochelle (UK) which have all spend, and are still spending, hundreds of hours to translate and correct the different Editing Guide versions.

  ARMA Technology Inside General

Ondřej Španěl has released a new "ARMA Technology Inside" entry on the Bohemia Interactive web site.This entry is about terrain representation and animation and most of all about the need for a technology to mature before beeing used in a game.

In this blog entry I would like to share with you some experiences of how new technology is being developed for computer games. I hope it will help you to understand the complex and interesting work which is needed for a new feature to be used to its full benefits.

...As a result, Sahrani does not use the technology as well as it could. As Ivan wrote in his Landscape Almost Real, this should change with ArmA 2, which will use the next instalment of this terrain technology, but this time the whole game world design process is done with the technology already known, which leads to much better results.

  Project UK Forces still alive! General
da12thMonkey has informed the community that the popular Project UK Forces mod is still alive and kicking on the ArmA scene.

We've been typically quiet as late, and with a small server incident this has begun to breed rumours of our demise, our abduction by aliens, or our well documented world cruise with Jeff. Fortunately, especially in the case of the latter, these are unfounded. We are still, as always, plodding along with our work in our own time.

It is certainly early days, as we have planned a large and quite ambitious pack, but we feel these will introduce a varied and useful selection of British vehicles into ArmA. Currently planned are:

* Land Rover TUM (Wolf)
Desert, Green, Green/Black, BATUS Versions
Soft and Hard Top Versions
FFR (Fitted for Radio) Version

* Land Rover WMIK
Desert/Green Versions
GPMG, HMG, GMG Weapon Systems
'TELIC' Version (Older model with older kit)
'HERRICK' Version (Current EWMIK model with current kit)
LRRP (Long Range Reconnaissance Patrol) Version

* Land Rover Pulse Battlefield Ambulance
Desert, Green, Green/Black Versions

* Land Rover Snatch
Desert/Northern Ireland Versions

  BushWars mod news General

The promising BushWars mod, based on the South African-Angolan Conflict of 1966-1989, is now hosted on our web server since their previous host Armed-Assault.de is still offline and will remain in the near future. The BushWars mod has announced too that they will release a mini-mod version by the end of January! More information on their website here.

We are continuing with our Mod development and will announce a mini-mod release by end of January. Due to the amount of work involved in developing a full mod and the miss calculation of the work required to complete such a task, we will only be releasing our full mod for ArmA II. We will however release numerous add-ons and content for testing and the development of ideas, suggestions, scripting and recruitment of members interested in this subject. We are using the ArmA platform to test and perfect our add-ons, "Angola" island and missions while we wait and prepare for our main release as an ArmA II mod.

I will be updating our site with developments and new WIP screens of various add-ons near completion as well as our mini-map "Cuito Cuanavale" by Ebud. I have disabled the download section as we are busy updating the add-ons previously released and I want to release the new versions together before Christmas which will be the Puma AS330, Alouette III and the proper SAAF pilot versions. January will release 2 units with custom weapons (32 Battalion and SWAPO) and the mini map (Cuito Cuanavale) as well as some missions.

  ArmAtube launched General
Our friend and site team member Kenwort informed us about his latest project. It is a website called ArmAtube.info where you can easily upload videos featuring Armed Assault.

A new website has born! ArmA-tube!
ArmAtube is a place where you can watch, upload and share armed assault videos and movies. ArmAtube is dedicated for only armed assault videos and other BIS game videos.
On ArmAtube you can easily upload your video and share it! It doesn't have to be a movie with a story or anything you can even upload your video showing your addon in game.
