31st Normandy mod WIP shots Screenshots
Rip31st has released 3 new WIP pictures of his World War II mod on the BI Forums.

Some more scenery sneak peaks. Areas around Villers-Bocage and St-Lo.
ArmA2 has recommended multi-core CPU's with new graphics cards. As you can see by the detail I'm putting into this terrain. I would recommend the same.

WW2 Frontline addons WIP by Stubblehopper Screenshots
Stubblehopper has informed us about the release of some WIP screenshots from upcoming WW2 Frontline addons.

Included some screen shots of stuff I've been working on lately. Should be ready for another ww2 release in the next week or so, this will concentrate on the Eastern Front and include, Russian soldiers in winter padded jackets, NKVD officers, Russian tank crew and Russian Scout /Snipers. On the German side, I've updated the waffen ss models and graphics and included a new Waffen ss officer, plus the long awaited tank crew will be released. Shortly after this release I should be in a position to release a Soviet T34/85, just working on the last of the graphics issues and the config ccp, enjoy!

Omaha Beach High Tide beta 1.1 released Addon release
Beton has released an updated Omaha Beach beta 1.1 map on the BI Forums.

... according to requests from Tomolyons i made a second edition of the Omahabeach map called Bet_Omaha_ht for high tide.
For the next days i plan to work on this map and afterwards bring the objects over to the Low water map. So for the future there will be two maps to play on.
Meanwhile i fixed the error with the strange sound like walking on wood. Clutter seems to work on most parts of the map. And some new objects and buildings and retextured Bis-buildings have been added.
Airports will be added soon...
AI paths still dont work on objects...why?
I still have issues writing a proper config for my objects as im a real noob when it comes to scripting. If there is anyone who can give me a kind of a sampleconfig with explanations in it which is understandable for noobs i would be really happy.
If any missionmakers out there have suggestions of things or changes needed.. just tell me

Note : Needed Beton Omaha Beach Objects beta 1.1 Addon to be downloaded with direct link. Beton's Omaha Beach Objects in addon section will be updated as soon as Omaha Beach Low Tide is updated.

  About Codemasters' marketing tactics Official

Marek Spanel , ArmA Project Lead has released an important post on the BI Forums.

THE NAME GAME: CODEMASTERS’ MARKETING OF NEW “OPERATION FLASHPOINT” CREATES CONFUSION, PROVOKES PROTEST

Is the upcoming Codemasters game really “the much anticipated return of the genre-defining military conflict simulator” Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis?
Is it really “the official sequel to the multi-award winning Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis”?
Bohemia Interactive says: “No! What matters is the game, not the name.”

Prague, Czech Republic, February 26, 2009 - In a letter from its attorneys to the English company The Codemasters Software Company Ltd, Bohemia Interactive Studio s.r.o., the leading Czech-based independent games developer, is protesting Codemasters’ marketing tactics which tout Codemasters’ upcoming game Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising as the “return of” or “official sequel to” the genre-defining game Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis.

The award-winning Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis was created by Bohemia Interactive in 1997-2001. Bohemia Interactive licensed its creation to Codemasters to publish and distribute. Although Codemasters owns the “Operation Flashpoint” trade mark and plans to release its new game under that title, Bohemia Interactive has always owned 100% of the original OFP game. Bohemia also provided gaming community complete set of editing tools and on-going support that turned the original OFP into one of the most modded PC games ever. Codemasters owns only the name – and Bohemia Interactive wants fans to understand that Codemasters’ new game is not from the same development team that brought them the classic original.

“In the license agreement, Bohemia Interactive expressly reserved the exclusive right to develop sequels to the original OFP game,” says Leora Herrmann of Kluger, Peretz, Kaplan & Berlin, PL in Miami, attorneys for Bohemia Interactive. “Codemasters also acknowledged that Bohemia owns all the intellectual property in the game – except the words ‘Operation Flashpoint’,” adds Herrmann.

“Since Codemasters has no right to use the Bohemia Interactive game engine or any other component of the Bohemia-developed game, how can it rightfully claim to produce a ‘sequel’?” asks Bohemia Interactive CEO Marek Spanel.

Because Codemasters owns the trade mark “Operation Flashpoint,” Bohemia Interactive cannot use the name for its own sequels. Instead, ArmA, released in 2007 and already adopted by the modding community, is powered by the second generation of the Bohemia game engine. Bohemia Interactive is currently working on its latest revolutionary re-creation of modern military conflict – ArmA II, due out later this year– which will be powered by the third generation of its engine and is based on the same original design concepts and artistic style of Bohemia Interactive’s legendary releases OFP: Cold War Crisis and OFP: Resistance.

In fact, the ground-breaking game engine that Bohemia Interactive launched initially in OFP: Cold War Crisis has spawned not only ArmA and the upcoming state-of-the-art ArmA II, but in its most sophisticated incarnation to date also powers Bohemia Interactive’s VBS combat training simulators used by armed forces around the world, including the recently announced Game After Ambush training program for the US Army.

“We can’t stop Codemasters from releasing a game using the words ‘Operation Flashpoint,’” acknowledged Spanel. “But it is not right to promote this game as the ‘official sequel to the multi-award winning Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis’ or the ‘return’ of Bohemia Interactive’s ‘genre-defining military conflict simulator.’ The awards were given for the game created by Bohemia Interactive - not to a name.”

US Infantry - 2005 by CameronMcDonalds Screenshots
CameronMcDonalds has released his US Infantry - 2005 addon on the BI Forums.

Basically this pack has a few US infantry models from late '04 essentially through to the end of '05. That is, of course, just after ACU started being fielded to US units, leading to many pie-bald units running around, as these ones well demonstrate.

They'd be at home in an early-phase OIF mission of sorts. They blend decently in desert terrain, and perform no worse than BIS units in woodland terrain - the vests help (excepting the two blokes I put in (the extremely rare, I might add) DCU vests, poor devils). Even better, they are very well optimised. The "heaviest" unit has 4 sections, and around 9,000 faces. And yes, he's a National Guardsman. ... When you've got 27 custom models to make, you tend to try and make them lightweight.

I left shoulder unit and combat patches off because people said they'd prefer nothing to be there, so be it. The clan patch should hopefully show up there in MP.

Grass Pack by Mikebart updated Editing
Mikebart has released an updated Grass Pack beta on the BI Forums.

Edit: updated download link with 2048's and included .rvmats. This is a replacement for the old mb_Grass.pbo

Hey all, just a small Grass pack for island makers, all the textures were rendered from high poly geometry at 2048x2048.
The origional references were from photographs taken of grass in rural Victoria.

I havent actually tested it as clutter ingame yet, but its all set up and ready to go, I'd really like some feedback on how you guys go about using this, so please post back on this thread with any ideas on how you think I could make it more efficient and/or look better and ill get it back to you.

If you're interested in how these textures were made, then check out this tutorial: English Elm Tutorial, it pretty much explains projection rendering for diffuse maps in 3dsmax.

Bush Wars Conflict Mod weapons pack released Screenshots
ObmaR from the Bush Wars Conflict Mod has released the Bush Wars Weapons Pack on the Bush Wars Web site

The weapons pack is finally completed, Thank you to all that helped to Beta Test and bug report. Due to suggestions from a member, I have changed the AK grenade launcher GP-30 to the GP-25. The rounds now include the VOG-25 and the bouncing VOG-25P (frog) round. I have made sounds for the VOG-25P to give it that impact bounce and explode FX sound effect. Retouched some textures and normal maps as well as sounds.

I made these weapons for our future ArmA2 mod so the pack will have further updates for the ArmA2 game. Any bug reports, requests, advice are most welcome, please post them in the forum.

Starting this week the team will start uploading the updated versions of all our completed addons up to now. Will include the soldier packs, Helicopters, Custom Round Parachute and a few other surprises.
