Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead - Private Military Company Delayed Official

Michal Harangozó from Bohemia Intractive has informed us about a short delay in ArmA2 : Private Military Company release. The new relase date is scheduled for 30th November 2010 (= 6 days, original release date had been scheduled on 24th November).

Prague, Czech Republic 18th November - Bohemia Interactive, the award winning Czech independent development studio, announces a new release date for its addon,

Arma 2: Private Military Company - Tuesday 30th November 2010.

ARMEX, the Multi-Player Armory - a new, unique feature, introduced last week in a developer's video update - will be also available for Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead and Arma 2: British Armed Forces.

The original Armory mode - an interactive library featuring all in-game models - was first introduced in Arma 2. Building upon this unique game mode, the Multiplayer Armory enables players to try out all weapons and every single vehicle model from Arma 2 in dynamically generated missions with up to eight friends online or over LAN!

"The new Multi-Player Armory feature is so exciting and promising, that we decided to implement it to Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead and British Armed Forces as well" said Marek Spanel, Bohemia´s CEO. He continued: "unfortunately, implementation over two games - particularly where these are already released - is a difficult process, and requires extra care. The gameplay gets a new, fresh stimulation and we're sure it's worth it".

About Arma 2: Private Military Company:

One year after British and coalition armed forces successfully quelled the insurgent uprising in Takistan, the NATO Green Sea deployment is in the process of a strategic drawdown of its combat troops in the region. Private military contractors shoulder the burden of the increased workload, with competition rising between the multinational organisations for lucrative security contracts. Private Military Company, ION, Inc., successfully bid for a contract - codenamed Black Gauntlet - to provide security for a UN investigation team as they seek to piece together information regarding Takistan's abandoned nuclear weapons programme…

Key Features:

* New playable faction - Private Military Company
* Original singleplayer campaign with strong storyline unfolding across more than ten missions
* Fully implemented 2 player co-op mode
* New map featuring abandoned wasteland style military weapons test range environment, built upon brand new models and textures
* Unique new character models
* Exotic new weapons (AA-12, fully modelled XM8 variants)
* Detailed new vehicles (Ka-60 'Kasatka', Armed Helicopter UAV, Armoured SUV)
* Numerous new engine updgrades, including full Shotgun Ballistics Modelling and in-game Video Playback

Facility OKB-754 was the central hub of Takistan's nuclear weapons programme, which reached it's zennith in late 1999 with the detonation of a 5-10 kton device, before being forcibly abandoned due to sanctions from the international community. The test site was devastated by an underground detonation, which exceeded the expected yield and breached the surface of the ground, distributing a small quantity of radiation around the immediate area; forcing any local activity out of the region.

5 exclusive Arma 2: PMC screenshots Official

JerryHopper informed us that our friends @ ArmedAssault.eu published several new WIP screenshots of Arma 2: Private Military Company.

Today While my crew was busy preparing for the TopNotch shows which are are aired in december, the camerateam was called out to shoot some footage for the AAN news network. It seems all the AAN news teams were already in the field, so we got the job.

We had shoot footage about a team of UN investigators that arrived this morning. They investigated a series of factories in the takistan region. The investigators, secured by several people of ION inc left early afternoon.

Altough the footage that my crew shot, was exclusively for the AAN, We managed to shoot some pics from our smart-phones.

Senior Designer Joris-Jan van´t Land Interview and MP armory video‏ Official
Michal Harangozó from Bohemia Interactive has informed us about the release of a YouTube video featuring the "multiplayer Armory", an item from the upcoming Arma 2: Private Military Company DLC.

I would like to take this opportunity and inform you about new interview in our Report In! serie - this time with Senior Designer Joris-Jan van´t Land.
Joris is in his interview describing his work on multiplayer Armory, which is a new unique feature of forthcoming add-on Arma 2: Private Military Company.

Extracts from Joris-Jan van´t Land interview :

Briefly describe 'The Multiplayer Armory', what is it and what can be used for?

The Multiplayer Armory is the next evolution of the Armory concept introduced in Arma 2. The game mode allows players to view and try out all equipment available in the game. As the name implies, this latest version is multiplayer compatible, and the added dimension instantly adds a whole lot more fun and replayability to the experience.
Two main modes exist in the Multiplayer Armory; namely, ARMEX and Operation. ARMEX is a military expo showcasing all our military equipment, but - unlike a real expo - you're free to use anything you see. Operation is a series of dynamic and procedural challenges; essentially, challenges that are different every time, based upon different factors.

So, what kind of new gameplay experiences will The Multiplayer Armory bring about?

Well, procedural gameplay is a key component for the experience - so it's tough to say exactly what
kind of gameplay will arise! An Operation's content, location and enemies depend upon the equipment
selected by the players. Want to try an Apache Death Match? Go for it! Would you rather raid an
enemy camp using a mix of rifles and launchers? Just select the items you want and you're good to
go.

Tell us a little about the muliplayer compatibility - how many people can get together and fire
up the Multiplayer Armory?

Early on in the concept phase for this project we decided on a maximum of eight players, even though our engine allows for many more players in multiplayer generally. The Multiplayer Armory is a complex system and, by limiting the amount of players, we are better able to provide a smooth experience from a technical point of view. Similarly, on the design side, we limited the amount of players to prevent complete chaos and anarchy. It will be easier for a smaller team of players to keep an overview of what is going on and to cooperate successfully.

Arma 2: British Armed Forces Released! Official

Arma 2: British Armed Forces DLC release has been announced on the official ArmA2.com site

Arma 2: British Armed Forces is deployed exclusively for the PC. It is available for GBP 7.99/EUR 8.99/USD 9.99. Buy your own copy NOW!

We are pleased to announce the continued reinforcement of NATO forces in the Green Sea region - with the deployement of British Armed Forces to Takistan and neighbouring Karzeghistan! Next in the line-up of military simulators, Arma 2: British Armed Forces - a huge downloadable addon for the recently released Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead - deploys today and delivers a new campaign, numerous single missions and a brand new faction and environment, expanding upon the already epic collection offered up by Arma 2's MilSim sandbox.

Less than two months after Operation Arrowhead successfully routed the Takistani military regime, NATO and coalition forces face a large-scale outbreak of guerilla insurgency. A mechanized force of Her Majesty's Armed Forces are about to deploy and embark upon a large-scale counter-insurgency campaign, which will define the future of the coalition presence in Takistan: Operation "Crimson Lance".

BAF provides an opportunity to explore the beautiful country of Takistan in even more depth, and offers the chance to hop across the border to Karzeghistan in the Shapur e-Dalanper region - a brand new area included as bonus content.

Detailed intel regarding the British Armed Forces faction background, its vehicles and weapons, is ready and available for immediate analysis.

Unfortunately, temporary technical issues prevent the release of Arma 2: British Armed forces through Steam. Currently, this issue is being addressed, and we actively seek to bring BAF to Steam as soon as possible. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience.

Arma 2 - Operation Arrowhead :Patch 1.54 released Official

Michal from IDEA Games has informed us about the release of the Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead patch 1.54. An original version of Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead 1.50-1.53 is needed.

VERSION 1.54 HIGHLIGHTS

* Arma 2: British Armed Forces Lite - all units, vehicles and weapons from Arma 2: British Armed Forces are included in this patch with lower quality textures and audio files. The full version of Arma 2: British Armed Forces with high resolution textures and packed with a new campaign and large selection of new single player missions is available for purchase, see http://www.arma2.com/baf for more information about the content of Arma 2: British Armed Forces.

* Numerous stability and functionality fixes and improvements.

* Reworked MP Session Browser and Mission Selector.

* Engineer - Engineers have undergone some serious training and are now capable of repairing damaged vehicles and defusing mines. An engineer can patch up a badly damaged vehicle, making it operable. A damaged component can be repaired to 60% status; however, note that the total damage inflicted upon the vehicle persists, and further damage will be calculated cumulatively. An engineer can defuse mines, satchels, and IEDs. It's possible to order an engineer to repair/defuse something by standing close to it, selecting 'engineer' in your command bar, and then pressing '6-1' ('action' > 'defuse'/'repair'). If you are engineer yourself, simply select 'action' > 'defuse'/'repair' from the Action Menu (default binding is the middle mouse button).

* Artillery Computer - All indirect fire weapons can exploit the brand new artillery computer by selecting it in the Action Menu (default binding is the mouse wheel). The artillery computer initiates an interface where you can see your weapon, and the associated minimal and maximal ranges on the map. You may adjust your fire mode in the menu to the right and select the target area that your ordinance will strike. The display will indicate an estimated time to target; once you fire the ordinance - by clicking the 'Fire' button - the interface will track each shot. Your aim will change according to your actions once you leave the artillery computer.

Edit1 : Maruk has published new informations us on the BI Forums :

* Patch 1.54 is not compatible with the Steam version, Steam users have to wait for Steam auto-update

* A2: BAF DLC available to purchase through stores linked from http://www.arma2.com/baf , does not contain the patch 1.54 and users need to update their game to 1.54 before they can run A2BAF Full Version.

* BAF Lite included in the patch is scaled down quality of units and audio and does not contain any single player scenarios, BAF Lite is available primerily for Dedicated Servers and Clients in multiplayer to allow seamless online operation of A2OA + BAF

* Some users report problem updating Mission_E.pbo. We are looking into this issue and we will provide fix for them once we know what the problem was plus will probably provide download link for most recent missions_e.pbo

Edit2 : Jennik adds : In case you experience an "Error found in file EXPANSIONS\ADDONS\missions_e.pbo" error during the update installation, click the "Ignore" button and continue with installation.
When finished, download the file missions_e.pbo separately here, then search and replace the original file within your Arma 2 installation folder.
