First thign is that i expect that BIS can optimize the game as well they could. So all the PC resourse will be in use second I think its fair that games will take step up to multicores requirements there is no way how all the data is prosessed without it. I would liek to see ArmA 2 as same gameplay than old OFP but support the latest hardware. Bought already Quadcore

Hmm last year i spent 5873 hours using my computers so it wasnt that bad time/cost effencience of spent 1400 euros(1900 USD) of new HW. there is alot of more expensive things.

Projected Optimal PC System Requirements
* Quad Core CPU
* 1 GB RAM
* Fast GPU (8800GT level) with Shader Model 3 and 512 or more MB RAM

* Windows XP or Windows Vista
Firstly, Vista.. Seriously??
Second, if you have 2-3 gig, there is no need for Quad Core or even Duel, Duel Core.. and what didn't even mention the Broadband speed which would be a HUGE factor, also (getting back to the Vista bit) if you are running Vista (Standard) that 2 would slow you down with all then Cr@ppy bells and whistles running in the back ground.

@sharpy I think BIS are hinting better support for vista, IIRC there were a number of problems with vista + arma 1

multi-core support has been wanted quite badly by the community. People have the idea that its 2x fps or something...
tbh, if you dont have a dual core cpu by now, what are you running? a skt. A athlon overclocked to a whopping 2Ghz?

RisingDarkness, keep in mind that OFP2 isn't being developed by BIS, so it probably won't be like OFP made by BIS. ;)

Have to buy a new graphic card if i want to play it....
ArmA and OFP are the best games I ever played.
So I have to play Arma II and OFP II too. :D

I know E2160 is a low-level CPU.But use it just for this moment.I learned from the internet that INTEL will release some new kind of CPUs and get old CPU to a lower price in April 20th.I don't think that ARMA2 would come earlier than Apr. 20th.All we can do is to wait.
My CPU is E6600.I think it can be bearable if OC@3G.my GPU is 1950PRO so I would change it if I want to see a good scene in ARMA2.
In my country most ARMA FANs also worry about the system rerequirements.
Another question is,if ARMA2 is a upgrade from ARMA.and 8800GT can do well in ARMA.Do you think 8800GT is OK in ARMA2 too?If not,what in ARMA2 needs a more powerful GPU to support?

MSY, the only thing I would change would be the processor - It would be such a shame to buy a computer like that with a processor like that. Everything else is good.

HOW will this machine do for today's price
E2160 OC@3G
DDR2 800 1GX2
ABIT IP35E
8800GT 512M (OF COURSE A CHEAPEST ONE)
WestDigital 250G SATA2
PIONEER DVR-215
ATX V2.2 MAX 400W POWER
A COMMON 19 inch LCD with wide screen
and something misc
I think all of those are less than 840 US DALLAR FOR money exchange from my place.maybe it need MUCH less.
And it almost follows the recommended requirements.just without the quad core
=========
When ARMA2 really comes,this computer is dropped behind I think.Maybe half a year later.800 US DALLAR can buy a more powerful DIY.
