Yeah engagements at a thousand meters with small arms is not realistic I would say! You must have really eagle eyes to see your target good and be able to aim! Like Sharkdog says is better like around 500 meters max.

And the AI is sharp at long distances or not ?

It's a good idea, but normally the AI aims very good, better then many players.

Nothing realistic of engagements in small arms fire over a thousand metres though... max is about 550.
