Chris Henderson has released an updated version of his renown ArmA Edit utility on his web site. ArmA Edit is a full color script editor and file creator. It also has built-in Wizards for quickly and easily creating briefings, overviews, custom units, custom crates, and description files.
Version 1.2.9000 DATE: 1/6/08 * Fixed some errors with the sound classes created by Description Wizard. - Bookmarks work better when pasting text. - Maybe fixed rare problem when margins are not widened. - Other minor misc. fixes and changes.
Inkompetent updated his Real M136 and released version 1.1 of this useful addon in the BIS Forums.
Since the M136 AT-4 is a single shot disposable weapon in real life I thought it should be in ArmA too. The M136 AT-4 is now firable once, then automatically dropped on the ground. It can be picked up, but since the weapon can't be loaded and fired again the only purpose would be in a human vs human missions if you want to be sneaky (however sneaky it is to fire an AT rocket!). Ammo loadout for US and RACS AT soldiers are changed accordingly, giving them only one M136 rocket each, and exchanging the two excess rockets for magazines. The total number of slots used is the same as before, and thus shouldn't have any other effect on the game.
The addon can be used in multiplayer enve if only you use it on a server. Other players will not be able to see/pick up/use any M136 AT-4 launcher you have fired though (unless they have the mod too).
granQ has released an updated version of the Beriev Be-32 addon by Red Cottage on the BI Forums. This addon features also a bomber version loaded with FAB 250 bombs, KAB 500L (laser guided) are also available for the Be32 and can easily be put on the Su34B.
Democratic Republic of Sahrani got a cargo plane. It can transport up to 25 soldiers ready to paradrop behind enemy lines. A major modification also gave the SLA a bomber version of the plane, carrying 9 FAB 250 bombs. This release also includes a UN version and one american version.
Rambo-16AAB has announced over on the BI Forums the Brit Kit Modification. The mod aims to compile all community made addons -and ones made specifically for the mod- which depict the British Army/ Airforce and release them all together in one pack.
We are using Community sourced addons with the permissions of the Authors to produce a Simple British Kit mod for Arma.
The Goals of this project are two fold:- 1:- Have some sort of British mod available 2:- Have the Addon Makers who make the addons receicve credit and recognition for their addons and they can get them used. ( lots of great addons get made but seldom get used online as there individual addons, and not part of a Mod ).
Mondkalb has released a Cessna 182 addon on the BI Forums. The pack includes two Cessna 182 (One in Green and another in the reworked BIS-Paint). Hi, I've ported the famous OFP-Cessna to ArmA. I didn't change much on the outside Model, but've completeley reworked the Cockpit. The result is a retextured Cessna 182 with a high-detail Cockpit (The one before was looking like "Someone made a photo of it, then let it redraw it by a kid, then he scanned it, recompressed it to the very low, and then resized it to 64x64px, and then to the final 256x256px" - $cruffy. But thats ok, since OFP was released in 2001 ;) ). All intruments work. There are no dummies or placeholders.
OFman has released some information along with a few great looking screenshots of his upcoming project: Uhao Island.
I'm working on new island for ArmA called Uhao. Main idea is to create map with tropical ambient and atmosphere. While creating Uhao I'm looking up to Oahu island in Hawaian area (where tv series LOST was filmed). But I will recreate a small part of it (in small scale). I would like to adopt Crysis-like object arrangement (as good as ArmA engine will allow). I've made about 20% of island until now. Just look on these screens.
Gnat has released a nice teaser image on the BI Forums showing the latest work for his Armed Assault Navy addons - Aircraft Carriers.
Update, still working on stuff obviously. Found a new bug with the Subs, so the Frigates will likely be released first. And no I dont have a date or month.
VictorFarbau has updated his VFAI - AI Extension to version 2.3 and released it on the BI Forums. This addon makes units smarter and more independent, you can view a sample video of v1.4 below.
FIXED with version 2.3 : Tested Smokeshell.AI on a dedicated server, works fine for me now. Bug reports still very welcome.
Tested Equipment.AI on a dedicated server. Due to the precautions taken you don't see units that often anymore stealing stuff from corpses. But I tested a basic mission on a dedicated server and after a while hostile and friendly units started to pick stuff from dead bodys. So the addon works - there might be other conditions that stop units as explained in the readme file.
VFAI will work with XEH 1.0 by Solus and Killswitch. It is the only version of extended eventhandlers that I have installed and it works fine for me. I am not sure it's a good idea to have several versions installed simultaneously - I won't be held responsible for undesired effects. I myself use this: -mod=beta;@DMSmokeEffects;@TrueMods;@SIX_Pack1 Works all just fine with only "Extended_Eventhandlers.pbo" (XEH).
